We know that it will either be the Big 12 getting their 3rd BCS title or the SEC getting their 6th.

The Big East's champion is now in the ACC. The Big East needs to add some more talent to the conference. I don't think it is as bad as people make it out to be though. This could cause problems, as the Big East basketball conference is already huge but as it stands now you could really make the argument that the MWC is better.

As the Big East stands now, they have a school in Florida. So you really can't make the distance argument. Houston, SMU (you're banking they'll be back), ECU, or they could get real crazy and add some of the mid-majors from the MWC could help improve the conference's rep.

The Big East has 8 teams now. They could add ECU, Boise, Utah, and BYU, and then have a conference championship (might have to change the conference name). But this would save the conference IMO. It won't happen though. Just something I just thought of.

ECU might make sense; a Mountain West team joining the Big East makes no sense financially or geographicaly

There has been lot of talk about a split in the Big East between the all sports schools and the other schools. I suspect the split will not occur until the new teams are added.

There has been a lot of discussion about Memphis joining the Big East. They hired former Big East commisioner Mike Tranghese as a consultant for this purpose. They have a fertile recruiting area, huge sponsors (FedEx), a bowl game (The Liberty Bowl) and a solid basketball team. In addition, there is already a built in rivalry with UL and UC.

I would not mind Memphis but I really don't want to see the Big East turn into C-USA North with additions of them, ECU, UCF, etc. Unfortunately, teams already in another BCS conference will not be leaving their conference to join the Big East. I really see no other options for them.

Yeah that's what I said geographically. But heck, neither does USF. Everybody else is confined to the midwest/east area.

I don't know I kind of liked my idea it would solve 2 problems. It would make the Big East stronger and it would get the better MWC teams the automatic bid they deserve

I like Memphis, but it will only reinforce the idea of a mid-major conference.

Like I posted in another thread, the BE will likely lose Syracuse or Pitt to the Big10, and then WVU and a couple others might bolt to the ACC.

The only thing that could save the BE is adding a team like ND. Nothing short of adding another power will be good.

I believe superconferences will be the future as we've saw how it worked for the BE in basketball. The ACC is also talking about expanding to 14 teams regardless.

If the Big10 takes Pitt, I think WVU tries at all costs to go to the ACC. The BE will be a certifiable mid-major with only WVU left. I know UC has had a couple good years, but they need to win some big time games first.

I agree with you regarding not wanting the C-USA/MWC teams. Those teams doe not help the Big East cause. Unfortunately, barring a miracle, ND is not coming and neither are BC, MD, Navy, or Penn State (the favorites on the Big East Boards out there and teams would give the BE street cred).

I actually agree Super Conferences are in the future. This will be a step towards getting us to an eventual playoff.

I think certain MWC teams would actually be a step up from ECU or Memphis. Although, I guess UConn, USF, and UC were all mid-majors when they joined the conference but quickly became decent programs.

PSU would make sense because they originally wanted to form the BE with WVU and Pitt in the first place. I don't think there is any chance they abandon the Big10 now though.

That would leave BC and MD as the best choices but MD is an awful program right now.

I guess it depends on which markets they want the most. I think they'd take the New York market in that situation.
