Come on, if he wasn't oppressed and didn't have to deal with slavery 200 years ago, he wouldn't have done this. This cop probably arrested a lot black people for breaking the law when they 'didn't do nothing' so why should we feel sorry for him? We need to change, okay?

This is a sad story. I'm glad to see there are no race riots and looting. Sometimes shit happens in this world, no need to destroy the city because of it.

Law enforcement officials said they are looking for Curtis and Marvin Banks in connection with the killings. Both are believed to be Hattiesburg residents.

When it comes to rioting by groups of mostly-white people, we do it mostly if our team loses a big sporting event ... or hell, if we win the big sporting event. See Columbus after the National Championship, for instance.

The outrage stems not only from the killings, but from the subsequent treatment of the ones using lethal force.

I don't think we'll ever see outrage over a criminal of any color shooting an officer of any color. It's consistent behavior for a criminal to break the law, and since they were already being pursued by law enforcement, the only thing that would be suspicious would be if law enforcement were to suddenly stop its pursuit.

Too, I'm sure there are a lot of instances where a white cop shoots a black suspect/perpetrator, and there ends up being no rioting. The outrage seems to flare up when a case can be made that the use of lethal force was excessive, at which point the racial difference ends up being fuel on the fire instead of the spark itself.

But hell, I doubt we even have all the pieces of such a puzzle. If we did, perhaps we might see more resolution on the matter. Not necessarily an absence of further instances, but less outrage over it happening, because one side or the other might have to concede their point.
