The same was said by the crazy left when Bush took office. To some on the left he was never given a chance as he was viewed as stealing the election. It just grew from there.

Well to be honest. The left had a reason to dislike Bush, he wasn't the dude that most people in the country voted for (I'm aware that we don't do a straight democratic vote). There is no reason for the immediate animosity towards Obama as he won the election by a fairly wide margin. Yet tales of doom and gloom were there from day one.

Although the loosing party never gives the other a chance, so it isn't a surprise. The left was fond of making chimp jokes at Bush's expense.

He didn't win the popular vote in 00', but that was probably for the good. (Al Gore being a moron.) And he won the popular vote by 3 million votes in 04... so I don't understand where you get that most people in the country didn't vote for him.

I was talking about in 2000. In 2004 he won the election by a ton because he ran a great campaign and was against a horse instead of a candidate.

Dude, c'mon...the left spewed ridiculous venom towards Bush. He was given a little bit of a reprieve because of 9/11 but it didn't last long. Personally, I never thought it could get worse than the anger the left had towards Bush...but I have to say, it seems like the right hates Obama more as of right now. But, I mean, Obama is those on the right's worst nightmare...a charismatic, no-nonsense liberal who said on camera he wants to "spread the wealth around," hung out with marxists in College, was close to not being born in America, is of mixed race, has a "muslim name,"and has a wife who we all get the feeling wants to shove her fist in the air and yell "black power." Limbaugh would take back slick willy any day of the week.

But, to be fair, it's hard for me to remember back that far anymore and I most watched Fox during the Bush Presidency and Alan Colmes was a wussy.

In response to JMOG, I think Obama has been pretty much who I thought he was, except I've been surprised by his pragmatism and feel as if he's been more centrist than i thought he was (For instance, not demanding a public option and his passionate defense of the concept of a just war in Oslo)...I realize that sounds crazy to a conservative...To me, I feel like liberals have to feel a little taken aback by him...but that's JMO.

You obviously forget the specter of several weeks of bogus recount after recount. You forget the media declaring Gore the winner and then watching some of them actually shed tears when the U.S. Supreme Court smacked down the Florida Supreme Court allowing the Florida Secretary of State to finally certify that Bush had carried the state giving Bush the WH.

The ONLY time the left backed Bush for a very brief period of time was immediately after 9/11.

Bush Bashing by the left was in FULL THROTTLE from day one.

Bush was given a chance because of 9/11. Look at his approval ratings pre-9/11 and they are similar to Obama's.

Watch Recount. If you can watch that movie and still believe that Bush won fair,I feel very,very sorry for you. There was so much corruption in that election on the side of the Bush campaign it was sickening.



The Supreme Court gave Bush the presidency,plain and simple.

Even with all that,I was willing to give him a chance,as was my entire family,and most of the Dems/Liberals I know.

I give him all the chances he can seize in four years. I can't give him more than that right now.

Thus far he has proved to me he is who I thought he was.

The last year has been the worst political environment in my lifetime, we're looking at record debt, generational record unemployment and a government sector that is growing beyond anything imagined, and an administration that is at best aloof to the private sector.

If the GOP could put anything worth a salt together next year for Congress and in 2012 for the Presidency, they'll win easily, unfortunately I'm not sure they can do that. What I do know is that the current regime couldn't be more ineffective.

There is polarization in the US and unfounded, but that is the way it is. Divide and conquer has always been successful and it still is working to this day.

I do not believe that President Obama has any more hatred bestowed upon him than former President Bush had upon him. Confirmation bias is now the standard of reasoning amongst the majority of Americans and it is saddening. Both sides make ridiculous claims that are false and unsubstantiated.

The people are only following the leaders and what they see on the news. Divide and Conquer is happening now with just a few issues.

On the whole and I am not a Republican or Democrat, I disagree with the OP.
