Anyone have an alarm system? What system and how much do you pay?

Has anyone used Vivint. We're thinking of going with them but $60 a month seems a little high. It would include a smart thermostat and automatic door lock.

That seems expensive. I was looking into Simplisafe, but I haven't purchased anything yet.

We put in new windows and the old magnet system removed. I was looking into Simplisafe. I had a tech guy put in some cameras, connected wireless, w/motion connected to wife, daughter an my smart phone works out great. No monthly fee, six cameras and labor I helped less than 1000.00 we did connect via our phone the ability to set off the old alarm bells.
im still looking to get Simplisafe also

Same -- refurb simplisafe.

We have it unmonitored....Motion detector in the 2 main areas downstairs, door alarm on the 2 exterior doors...Water flood sensor at the top of the sump pump basin thing in the basement. My main concern was being alerted and having enough time to walk 10 feet to my closet and get out the shotgun, and this seemed like the best method for that without having to pay too much....Plus we can just detach and take it with us to the next house eventually if needed.

i think it's a waste of money. Just buy an ADT sign and put it in your yard and get insurance.

That is what I was thinking as well. If you make it look legit then only a fool would try to break into your place. MOST times they are going to go with the least resistance possible and just pass over any place that has any signs of a security system.

I think this combo is a pretty good deterrent. Our dogs go nuts at any sort of movement directly outside of our house if they can't see who it is.
