Saw this blow doing an analysis in out of conference scheduling. B1G ranked #1, SEC was worst.

SEC sucks.

But they beat up on each other through out the season, so it makes it ok, to play the likes of Citadel, or Michigan.

Isn't this relative each season, depending on the SOS rankings for that year?

This is like the RPI in basketball. You can have a higher ranking by just playing all mediocre to good opponents, but in-reality, not one with a likelihood of beating you. Whereas if you play the best team and 3 awful teams, you're schedule is deemed weaker, despite having a super tough game.

It just looked at games against FCS, group of 5, and Power 5 conferences and gave a rating based on that. It has nothing to do with how good a team may or may not be.

Need Insider for that, however the SEC is the worst conference no doubt. Only 1 team in the top 20.

I get that. You can't just group all FCS, other 5 and power 5 teams in such a general category. My point was, is a game against Georgia Southern really easier than a game against Eastern Michigan? Is Northern Iowa easier than New Mexico State? Is Northern Illinois easier than Wake Forest?

I'm not defending the SEC, but I'm guessing they get dinged in these rankings because every SEC schools plays an FCS school...

I don't know if NI is better than Wake Forest, but I do know both of these teams are better than the trash FCS schools that the SEC is notoriously for playing. The SEC is the most overrated conference in college football and their 1-5 showing in bowls last years for the NFL division SEC West proves it. The reality is, the SEC has a few good teams and a lot of bad teams just like every other conference in the country. Alabama was the only team in the conference worth a damn last year and they got their ass handed to them by a slow, plodding B1G team.

I get it.....SEC seemed a bit overrated last year, but the amount of titles they have in the last 10 years cannot be overlooked.

Conferences don't win titles especially when those teams of the conference get favorable treatment in the polls which ultimately determined who go to go to the championship game.

True, conferences dont win titles.

Nor do conferences lose bowl games yet you are jubilant that the SEC was shitting in the bowls last year.

I think the only time the SEC really got a favorable entrant into the NC game was when LSU made it with two losses. That was BS, but...they still destroyed the team they were up against........

but when your conference wins a lot of titles it will get the reputation on being a better conference than those that dont win it.
The conference my HS team is in is considered one of, if not the, most decorated in football over the last 15 - 20 years. The talk of how tough the conference gets pretty widespread across the talk of HS football but yeah, conferences dont win titles but if your conference wins many of them....you will be considered superior.

If the B10 had the amount of titles the SEC has the last 10 years then you would be bragging up the conference as the best in the land.

I'll be bragging that the B1G is as good as any other conference in the country. The reality is, the SEC is nothing special especially if you take away Alabama who pretty much carries the conference(sound familiar to a certain midwestern conference?). The SEC has several large media deals with a certain media network that directly competes with another independent media network. The reality is, if you believe the SEC is superior to any other conference you are irrelevant and the trash of the Earth.

Bullshit. Just look at the this thread. You are trumpeting how much better the conference is at scheduling. What would happen if they start an SEC-style run of titles?

If the big ten wins 8 of the next 12-13 titles you will be annointing the conference as the best in the land.

While I dont disagree that the media deal is a huge thing, they have had Florida, Alabama, Auburn and LSU win titles since 2003.

How far back must you go to find 4 Big 10 teams winning a NC? Think ya have to go back to 1960.

Well the team who won the latest national championship is from the B1G, and the last 2 have not been won by anyone in the SEC. Why are still discussing the SEC? They get the benefit of the doubt because of ESPN and that's the reality.

Also easy to have teams that barely have to play an OOC schedule, coast through overrated opponents, and wake up once a year to play Alabama or LSU; and if they win that they get an auto-bid to play a team who actually has played good teams all year without any credit. Must be nice.

Don't forget they have 9 + schools that start the season Ranked in the top 25. Then undoubtedly 3-4 of them lost 4+ games, but that magical preseason ranking helps the teams that beat them look better. Case in point Texas A&M, and South Carolina last year.

Also don't forget they schedule a cupcake towards the end of the season so they can recover from losses earlier in the season.
