Baylor running back Silas Nacita has been ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA, he told Bleacher Report's Adam Kramer.
Nacita, 21, was homeless when he walked on at Baylor in June 2014. In February, Nacita was informed by a school official that he was off the team, pending investigation, for accepting improper benefits.

The benefits Nacita accepted included a place to live, food and financial support given to him by "acquaintances from home" in Bakersfield, Calif., as Nacita detailed in a tweet back in February. On March 25, Nacita was informed that he was permanently ineligible. Baylor confirmed the information to Kramer.
"I didn't shed a tear in the meeting. I wasn't angry. I shook their hands," Nacita told Bleacher Report. "It was a pleasant conversation. I didn't go into the meeting expecting good news. I went in expecting confirmation, and that's what I got. I had a little hope in the back of my heart, but when they told me, it was almost a relief. I could start thinking about my future."
Nacita has begun investigating options at the NAIA level.
"I worked so hard for 12 years for this game, and I have lost it," Nacita told Bleacher Report. "Whatever it is , it would be worth it."

I wonder if something like this will continue to make the NCAA crumble to the Big 5 Schools.

I thought I remembered seeing there was a couple days after the story first broke, but didn't really pay enough attention to see what it was.

If I remember correctly, the extra information was that Baylor did make available a housing option that was within NCAA guidelines that he refused and chose to live elsewhere. In addition to that the housing he did accept was supposedly by a close family friend but after review was found to not actually be the case.

That is a gross over-generalization and not an accurate depiction of his options. His options were a non-conforming place to live and no sport or a conforming place to live and a sport.

Didn't he also admit that he knew what he was doing was a violation?

I believe so, the school has lined up a place and told, him that his other option would be against the rules and he chose option b anyways.

Then, I don't feel as bad for him or as angry with the NCAA.

I'm sure the housing offered to him was more than adequate enough for somebody.
