The police should be able to shoot the machete knocking it out of his hand without anyone getting injured.

I'm thinking a round house kick to the arm, knocking the machete out of his hands. Followed by 2 Rick Flair chops, kick to the mid section which makes the perp bend over. Then you put him in a headlock followed by a suplex. Quick move to his ankle, spin around and seal a figure four leg lock. After you break his ankle, pin him, count to 3 and cuff him.

Mike Brown - punk ass strong-armed a 7/11 clerk and then assaulted a police officer
Eric Garner - breaks the law, repeatedly, then resists arrest

It's only police brutality if it's unwarranted, ie if the person involved isn't a "dumbass low-life" doing something wrong.

Good Lord I hope that those of you that mention those ideas was being sarcastic
At 20 feet a guy with a knife that knows what to do can reach an individual before he/she can upholsters his weapon
Some of you couldn’t hit your ass stand still with both hands holding a pistol.
Hitting a small moving target like a hand holding a machete and a running individual not going to happen. I wouldn’t even attempt doing that, which that option was never even a consideration.
