NIT and CIT out, CBI taking forever as usual (they always have the hardest time getting someone to pay their 60K ransom to host)

Has anyone actually ever watched a game in anything below the NIT? I think I've watched 1 NIT game in my life(when OSU won it) and never of the other tournaments.

Later in the year I've watched the finals of those tournaments. They actually play a 3-game series, which is kind of cool. Otherwise, most aren't even televised.sleeper;1713359 wrote:Has anyone actually ever watched a game in anything below the NIT? I think the CBS College channel or whatever the hell it's called airs the CBI.Azubuike24;1714090 wrote:Later in the year I've watched the finals of those tournaments. They actually play a 3-game series, which is kind of cool. Otherwise, most aren't even televised.

They air like 2 games in all of the early rounds, but they do the entire championship series.wildcats20;1714107 wrote:I think the CBS College channel or whatever the hell it's called airs the CBI.
The CBI is arguably the "worst" of them all. They try to get power conference teams, all power conference teams decline, and they're left scrambling to take what's left after the CIT (all mid-major) takes their teams. They also charge the highest fee to host a game ($60k), so then they have trouble finding enough teams willing to host. This year I think they got 1 major team (Colorado), and it took them til damn near midnight to find enough teams to complete the bracket. The CIT was ready to roll like 5 minutes after the NIT was announced

Anyone read the article about the Colorado senior who opted to not play in the CBI while his team is playing?ts1227;1713167 wrote:

1. There's something sort of funny about postseason tournaments getting so bloated that sub-.500 teams are getting invites to them and players on said teams are like "Fuck this shit, I'm out!".wkfan;1714156 wrote:Anyone read the article about the Colorado senior who opted to not play in the CBI while his team is playing?

2. There's something sort of sadly hilarious about how clueless everyone seems to be about the player's decision. His teammate, in defending him, is saying something along the lines of "I think his body might be wearing down", indicating he's making an educated guess but isn't actually sure. And the coach is just like, "Uh, shit, we don't even know if he'll be around to support the team, but he's welcome, I guess..."

Kent State still alive in terms of local schools. Cleveland State lost tonight, all other MAC schools were done last week

I'm surprised Kent has not been chosen to host a game yet of the 3 CIT games they've had. They've played on the road vs teams that I would not say are superior programs, certainly not historically.

They probably haven't volunteered, as the CIT charges $30-35k per round to do so. There's nothing behind who hosts other than who's willing to pay upgyea36;1716369 wrote:I'm surprised Kent has not been chosen to host a game yet of the 3 CIT games they've had.
