Anyone hear about this idea on M and M this AM?

Basically you can pledge $$$ for a certain player to stay at the college and finish his eligibility. If he does, he gets 90% of the money. If not, you get your $$$ back.

They also have things for if they score certain amount of points/td's etc.

The NCAA is against it.
I personally didnt like it.

Why not be like UK and just pay your players?

I can't see this lasting long.

It's nothing more than a shell for boosters to siphon funds to players while taking a cut of the action.

From a financial point of view it's great for the owners of the site if it works; not only do they site get 9% of the transaction but they also have access to the money for a year to which they can profit off the interest. Looks like a cash cow.

Would the NCAA allow boosters to promise cash to players that they could receive once they leave? No.

Would the NCAA allow boosters to promise cash to players that would be held by a 3rd person locally that the player receives upon leaving? No.

Why does it being a website change the equation?

I'm assuming the site would just refund the donations, whether they keep their cut for transaction fees would be up to the operators of the site.

Count me in as someone who doesn't care about college players getting paid or not. As long as The Ohio State University is winning championship with the highest integrity both on and off the field, I do not care if the players make $100m a year.

You get your money back.

I just think it is a bad idea an wouldnt work anyways.
Then they also added in the thing about points, td's and such...that is a bad idea.
