Figured we could start a new thread on best vacations.

One of the best vacation was just this winter. The gf and I took her kids to Frankenmuth, MI since none of them(herself included) had ever been there. Ate WAY TOO MUCH bacon at Tony's (if you're familiar with it), and told the kids we were going to the North Pole to go to Santa's workshop to see Santa Claus. Frankenmuth and Bronners didn't disappoint. On the way back, we stopped at the Rainforest Cafe at Great Lake's crossing. The whole trip was something I'd done a couple of times, but the kids' excitement made it pretty special.

Also, I've been to Myrtle Beach a few times and have never been disappointed. I've had a blast each time I've went there.

Probably the cruise I went on in December 2013. My friends got married on the boat before we left, and then we had 7 days of fun with all of our BFFs. There were over 50 people there for the ceremony, and about 35-40 of us stayed for the entire cruise. The wedding planner on the ship said it was the biggest group of people that had ever been there for a wedding, by far.

We went to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and Grand Cayman. Weather was great, excursions were fun. Really couldn't have asked for anything better.

We also managed to smuggle 23 bottles of liquor onto the ship in wine bottles. So that was nice.

This past weekend was pretty awesome. Stayed at a ritz Carlton suite in key biscayne just south of Miami.

Going from -5 to 75 was great in itself but that hotel is just awesome.

The wife and I first trip to Sydney, Australian, two and half weeks of the greatest time ever. Hired a private tour guide to the Outback, he took us into a forest area we walked around with hundreds of Kangaroos, great food, wonderful weather (not a fan of the golden web spider however), when to the Opal mine (costly trip) , hiked the Blue Mountains.

When the girls where growing up we when to Hilton Head every summer … great memories

Went to New Orleans on a mini-moon with my wife. Neither of us had ever been, and we basically went to explore different restaurants and stuff. Not a hugely expensive vacation, but we had an awesome time. Went to their zoo and aquarium, and some great restaurants: Coop's Place, Ruby Slipper, NOLA (just got wine and appetizers, kinda regret not getting food here...), Cafe Du Monde, The Gumbo Shop, and some others. I would definitely go back!

edit...I should mention that one of the best things was the open container laws. We went to Coop's Place on the first night, got a Po'Boy and the wife got the fried chicken. Had some scotch after dinner and walked out of the restaurant with my scotch in hand. Best. Thing. Ever.

Same here.

We are going to Hawaii in May, which should be a great trip overall. The only downside is we are going with her parents, her brother and his girlfriend. I love my in-laws, but I'm not a huge fan of family vacations like this.

Past summer, Galapagos and Machu Piccu.

Also had a great trip in 1998 to London/Paris/S. France. But I was 12, so I didn't appreciate it enough to be up top. Will have to make that trip again.

Had some great trips to Caymen Islands with my ex, and when I turned 21, I was in a family vacation and we had a house in the Florence hills.

But outside the Galapagos trip, the most fun I had growing up was going to Sanibel/Captiva for 10-14 days each year over spring break. Cousins, friends, family etc. Always a fucking blast and I miss it more than anything else travel wise. Stayed at the same place all 10 years and it was always during March Madness which made for some great memories with my dad. I plan on making it a yearly spot when my fiancée and I start having kids.

Heading to Bora Bora this summer for honeymoon. That should jump to #1.

A one time shot was the outer banks of NC. Went to I think Wales, was further down the banks. Had a house with a pool just across the road from the beach. Each day was up early to watch the dolphins, play cards to see who had to peal and devein the fresh shrimp, and the rest was around the pool and at the beach all day, hot tub at night.

Yearly is at Lake James in NE indiana. We now get 3 houses. Pretty much get up early, fish, swim, snorkel, lounge at the beach, and hang out, boat. Pretty much have it down to a science of what is eaten each year and who takes what. A steak night. A burger night. Bar B Q Chicken night. Fish night. Go to the local ice cream/yogurt spot most nights. Hiking at Pokagon...great, great week.

Tough choice between Spain for spring break when I studied abroad or Miami for my first Winter Music Conference.

I studied in London, went to Spain for 10 days during spring break. Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, then met one of my best friends back in London for the remainder of the break. Just an overall awesome 2 weeks. Tons of partying, site seeing, and just doing whatever I wanted.

Miami was 3 years ago. WMC was something I knew about for years but always put it off or something would come up. I'm an electronic music fanatic and being there during that time was just surreal. Miami in March with every type of music party imaginable.

Slept four nights with a hot married (female) coworker at an Arizona private resort while working for a fortune 500 company. It was the East Coast and West Coast offices getting together to spend "leadership training" money.....Didn't cost me a penny other than when we went out at night.

Other than the missing drugs it was amazing.

e/ Or maybe the three days in Vegas for the NASCAR race. The race was secondary and by Sunday with a total of four hours sleep in three days I was just ready to pass out on the plane. Vegas and Fremont Street on Psychoactive drugs is a must for everyone.

Three weeks in Spain. We had a foreign exchange student for a year and her father was the editor of the Barcelona newspaper. The first week we stayed at their townhome in Villa Franca del Penedes, then a week in Altafulla on the Mediterranean Sea, then a week in the Pyrenees. Their beach house was the only privately owned property on the shore and was in the center of all the postcards. The whole trip was awesome and they wouldn't let my parents pay for anything once we were there.

Tough for me, between backpacking in Big Sur, or rafting in Klamanth. Both rank up there for me for similar reasons. Camping/hiking with good friends.

Enough that we won't be traveling much after that for a few years.

But I had enough Delta miles from work to fly us 1st class rountrip from Raleigh. So at least airfare is free lol.

Punta Mita, Mexico. We stayed in the Four Seasons pent house. It was incredible. Every hour and the pool they brought you a new treat my favorite was the mini Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream. The room had an infinity pool
that went from the living room. One room had an awesome outdoor shower that we used every day and the other room had a large outdoor soaking tub which was a lot of fun.

A close second was was our honey moon to the Riveria Maya in an all inclusive

Im hoping next January to go on My Morning Jackets One Big Holiday music Festival at The Hard Rock all inclusive in Riveria Maya. It's four nights of awesome music with drinks and relaxing during the day.

The best was getting my CDL and driving around the country for two years. Stopping in small towns and staying a few days. Best two years of my life so far.

I've been lucky to travel all over the world. Best vacations: Dubai with family that lives there. Turks & Caicos the best place I've ever scuba dived. Loved the beaches and people were really nice. Back packed Europe right after graduating college. Amazing trip and met a friend that I still talk to everyday from The Netherlands.
