Tom Heckert said in an interview after the press conference on Jan 12, that the most important positions to have are a QB, OL, and DL. Do you think this will be their thinking for the draft and draft for those positions?

Perhaps, but I don't think it means they necessarily will address them early. Mangini in the past drafted C and LT early, well we already are set at those positions. I don't see us taking RT early, and if a guy is available via free agency, I wouldn't be surprised to see us get him there. I think selecting a QB early only happens if the 6 guys we really wanted to pick were drafted 1-6. There's a lot of depth at DL in this draft, but its not very top heavy.

It seems our men at the top are offensive oriented, while the coach is defensive oriented. Which will we focus on?

They may be offensive oriented but that doesn't always translate into the draft. Right now there is so much talent on the defensive end and not that much top offensive talent. No RB is worry of a top 10 pick, no WR is either (not high on Bryant imo), and the QB's aren't overly impressive either.

They will do whatever Holmgren wants. Mangini probably has almost no say in what goes on.

It doesn't matter what orientation you are, you take the BPA. You don't say, well, I know Berry, McCoy, and Suh are sitting there, but we need a WR worse, and take Dez Bryant.

You take the BPA, especially on a team like ours where no matter what position you take, that player will be able to fill in and play.

Even if we took a NT at #1, we could move Rogers to DE. Even if we took an OT at #1, we could move him to RT.

The only position I don't want to draft this year is QB's. There are three QB's in this draft I would like to take. Bradford, Clausen, and John Skelton, and I'm not touching Bradford or Clausen unless they slip into the second, which won't happen. Skelton will be around in round 5 or so, and makes a nice project.

No QB period.

Other than that, I agree with you.

Well, with 11 picks, I don't think it'd hurt to bring a project in.

But I refuse to take a QB in the first 3-4 rounds.

It seems like 'projects' virtually never pan out in both basketball and football.

True, but that's what most later round picks end up being. You usually take a guy that has a high upside in hopes of coaching him up to a contributor.

I have always felt that later rounds is a good time to show interest in the smaller school players. Players that have potentional but played on small stages. I think there are always a few 'steals' like this in every draft.

1. Jimmy Clausen (4)
2. Sam Bradford (14)
3. Colt McCoy (61)
4. Tim Tebow (64)
5. Sean Canfield (73)
6. Tony Pike (91)

Those are the 6 QB's who made my top 100.

Colt McCoy doesn't make reads. He lacks an NFL arm. He's small and fragile (see the scrimmage against Alabama). He needs to transition into an NFL offense and learn how to play under center. I don't see why he would be any sort of NFL prospect

Tebow would be good only as a wildcat QB...Not an everydown QB/starter
