To you, personally, what song(s) encompasses the most power in your life? Whether you are having a bad day/great day, energetic/lethargic, etc... What song(s) (music and/or accompanying lyrics) brings you to complete peace? What song(s) have the most power to/for/over you?

At the top of my list is Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here:

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in a war,
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Josh Groban's recording of "You Raise Me Up" is one of my favorites. There are others but I can't envision them at the moment.

Very, very, very good song.

I've heard it said that a man would climb a mountain
Just to be with the one he loves
How many times has he broken that promise
It has never been done.
I've never climbed the highest mountain
But I walked the hill of calvary

Chorus:
Just to be with you, I'll do anything
There's no price I would not pay
Just to be with you, I'll give anything
I would give my life away.

I've heard it said that a man would swim the ocean
Just to be with the one he loves
All of those dreams are an empty emotion
It can never be done
I've never swam the deepest ocean
But I walked upon the raging sea

Repeat chorus

(Bridge) I know that you don't understand
the fullness of My love
How I died upon the cross for your sins
And I know that you don't realize
how much that I gave you
But I promise, I would do it all again.

Just to be with you, I've done everything
There's no price I did not pay
Just to be with you, I gave everything
Yes, I gave my life away.

There are a few. This is the song I've known the most, though.

Amazing Grace

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now i'm found
Was blind but now i see

'twas grace that taught
My heart to fear
And grace that fear relieved
How precious did
That grace appear
The hour i first believed

Through many dangers
Toils and snares
I have already come
'twas grace that brought me
Safely thus far
And grace will lead me home

And when this heart
And flesh shall fail
And mortal life shall cease
I shall possess
Within the vail
A life of joy and peace

Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

Having a child makes this song even more powerful. I can't even imagine what it would be like to lose my daughter the way that Clapton lost his son.

Skillet songs to pump me up
Journey "separate ways" to pump me up
Richard Marx when I used to get sad about relationships

Good call on Skillet. Very good band.

I have been listening to Avenged Sevenfolds-Seize The Day, Afterlife, and Dear God a lot lately.
