Oklahoma St is undefeated but ranked behind Stanford.

I really think this committee just puts their rankings out to get people talking.
The committee doesn't just look at rankings and wins. They watch and rank based on how good they think each team is. They probably realized they were under ranking the Hawkeyes and decided to move them up.

Florida is horrible and looked horrible against vandy. I watched that whole game and they were fucking garbage.

Really disappointed that OSU and ND aren't matched up in round 1 of the CFP. It would not only be the biggest blow out in CFP history but also just hilarious to crush the hopes and dreams of THE overrated program with THE most delusional fan base.

For that reason, I will be putting all my mental energy into hoping Clemson loses so OSU can be #2 and ND #3. Also is Clemson the worst #1 of all time?

Agreed. Florida would have 4-5 losses right now if the played in the B1G. They've beaten nobody and are terrible.

I think they only jump both if they absolutely blow out Oklahoma...by like 70. A decently contested game and they only potentially jump Iowa. And even that doesn't seem likely if Iowa beats Minnesota soundly.

You have to remember, that will be Baylor's first game against a top 25 team all year. Out of the teams they beat, none of them have winning records. I think it will take more than a win over Oklahoma to jump two spots into the top 4 for Baylor.

All time? Like including 1984? Come to think about it 1990 was pretty weak also.

Well if it does not change, with ND being #4, you think that both Iowa and Baylor/OkSt both can't control their own destiny.

Iowa beats 4-4 Indiana 35-27.
Florida beats 3-5 Vanderbilt 9-7.

Iowa jumps 4 spots to #5 and Florida falls 1 spot to #11.

Were they trying to correct a mistake from last week? Did they feel like Iowa should have been higher to begin with?

IMO, if Baylor beats Oklahoma, they will jump Iowa (vs Minnesota) and Notre Dame (vs Wake Forest).
Northwestern keeps winning, which is helping Iowa's case, same with Wisconsin. Both Wisky and NU are ranked now.

Where as FLA's best win...Ole Miss?...Is a dumpster fire. And they've beaten 0 teams currently ranked.

The same number of teams that OSU has beaten. Only difference is that Florida had to play LSU (cue Sleeper saying Florida would be winless in the Big Ten)

And the difference between the current teams of OSU and Iowa, is.......last season?

Win for Nebraska would make them bowl eligible...
Either of those, with Nebraska being more likely.

Eye test.

Again, you're making this a BCS debate. The BCS is over. The paper rankings that SEC teams benefitted from is out the door. If there was a BCS system, OSU wouldn't have gotten into the "final four" last year. And you saw how wrong that would have been.

This is what I would be wanting if I was making it a BCS debate....

Not really sure what that proves other than my point.

A lot of those rankings differ, but I'd take the committee's rankings over the BCS, and that's coming from an OSU fan who's team is undefeated and defending champs, yet is behind a 1 loss team.

The reality is the committee's rankings are irrelevant until the final week. We saw that last year and we will see it this year.

The other reality is the committee got it right last year. I assume they will get it right this year.

I like how someone said last night that the committee is taking a wait and see approach with the BigXII

If Oklahoma State or Baylor run the table and end up 12-0, we will see them jump into that 4th spot ahead of ND barring everything else is status quo. It'd be hard to leave out an undeated Big 5 and let a 1 loss someone be in.

I agree with this. If the Big 12 champ is undefeated, they are in. But if the champ (or I guess co-champ) has 1-loss, the Big 12 is on the outside looking in again.

I actually agree with Sleeper that the rankings are meaningless. The committee will manipulate the rankings the last week to who they want to see in the playoff. They aren't held accountable to their logic of "they ranked team A ahead of team B for 6 weeks, and all of the sudden, without merit, team B leaped team A for a playoff spot." It could happen, like it did last year. This is the beauty and the curse of a subjective system that doesn't have a statistical formula or component. It's completely subjective.

So yes, perception matters. Name recognition (Alabama/Notre Dame) matters. Being defending champ (OSU) matters. Being screwed last year (Baylor) matters.

The only controversy is going to come if there are no major shake ups in the last week, like last year...and you have 1-loss teams like Notre Dame and Alabama, who are going to be comfortably in the final 4 rankings until they lose, get potentially bumped if an Iowa or Oklahoma State wins out.

That at might change since the B12 backloaded the schedule to get late season hype.

Unless you watch it (not saying you did or didnt Gerb), you won't see that he uses facts backed up by up numbers and then stats and not his opinion, to make his two conspiracy theory points.

I don't give a shit how many points per possession they gave up. They gave up 663 yards of offense and that is not good.

I do think OSU is getting the benefit of the doubt from being defending champs with a bunch of returning starters and also being undefeated so far this year. I have no explanation for bama. Frankly I'm a little annoyed they are grouping the sec with the B1G.
