Holy shit I cannot remember an outbreak like this before. I remember back about 10 years ago it being pretty bad as tons of kids missed school but this year has been ridiculous. I am the only one in my family or at my house in BG who has not already caught it more than once. Is it bad elsewhere across the state?

Your family is weak. Must be inferior genetics.Classyposter58;1694610 wrote:Holy shit I cannot remember an outbreak like this before. DDN had an article the other day about how hospital cases are up like 450% from this time last year. My wife and I work at two different Dayton hospitals and both agree the amount of patients with the flu, pneumonia, wheezing, COPD exacerbations, etc. are a lot worse this year than in the past.

I know our local hospital had a lot of cases. Oddly, I don't remember ever having the flu. I know for sure I haven't had it in the last 20 years.

Ohio Dept of Health reported last week that 9 people in Northeast Ohio had died from the flu already this year. Typically, they get 10 deaths the ENTIRE season..... Mainly, attributed to the vaccine not being effective against the this particular strain which was not included.

^ My uncle died of a respiratory infection yesterday. I haven't heard if it was viral or bacterial.

Got the flu when I came home for Xmas. It hit me on Xmas day. I only consumed liquid for about 50 hours.

Whole family had it for 4-5 days but somehow I dodged the bullet. I was the only one to get the flu shot so not sure if that made a difference.
The first 4 years of getting the flu shot I came down with a 24 hour version of it 3 weeks out of getting the shot. Not sure if it was the shot or not, but man it was like death for just right around 24 and then back to normal

I'm at the clinic now after feeling like shit today (not due to last night). Sore throat, sinus pressure, fatigue and I have to travel to CA Thurs for a week of training. Hoping I can get ahead of this.

I have been doing everything possible to catch it, like hanging out at packed bars (UFC fight last weekend/OSU game last night), but have dodged it so far. Hope it continues.

Had it right before Christmas, was out for 3 days. It sucked, felt like a zombie.

What is the "flu"?
It seems like everybody calls everything the flu.
I started feeling bad on Saturday. Threw up Saturday night. Felt miserable all day Sunday. Aches, chills, fever. All I could eat was saltines most the day. Had some chicken soup Sunday night. Never threw up again. Slept in on Monday. Woke up and felt blahish but better. Went into work and by Monday night I was drinking for the National Championship game.
What did I have? Certainly something flu-like but the true "flu", right?

I load up on "C", hot soups, day time and night time meds, hot showers, steam bath ... I've been over it but I'm still taking "C" and some cold meds, washing my hand more, eating hot meals and lots of liquids, staying away from people with cold, flu and hospitals

I think most people get a bad cold and decide to call it the flu. And anytime someone has a stomach bug, they label it the stomach flu. There is no such thing.TBone14;1696188 wrote:What is the "flu"?

Agreed. I think when someone gets sick this time of year they just call it the flu. Doesnt really matter what you call it, if it knocks you out for a couple of days it doesnt really matter I guess.Fab4Runner;1696200 wrote:I think most people get a bad cold and decide to call it the flu.
