Although, I voted to show the movie anyway. I don't think this is a hit on First Amendment rights. This is about losing money. It's always about the bottom line.

our most basic and fundamental right of free speech is being dictated by a tyrannical government across the globe...

why is hollywood not sticking together and standing up for themselves .......

this is outrageous on a monumental scale.....

hollywood has always played a major role in political movements in this country and has never conceded to republican outrage or anybody else since the macarthy era of the 1950s .........

why would they kowtow to these bastards ......

The movie would make money, but what happened if there was an attack? Would the ambulance chasing lawyers sue the theatre and sony? Probably so.

salmon rushdie was threatened by iran for writing the book ...... satanic versus....... all the publishing houses stuck together and did not budge... they told iran you will not tell us what we can or cannot sell in our bookstores .. iran lost that battle because the right of the people stood up together and yelled back at those tyrants....

It's a liability issue that has nothing to do with the government.

The theaters would be fine, I was mainly talking about Sony losing money. This whole email leak is a PR nightmare, and their execs feel that releasing this movie would just add fuel to the fire.

It's good to know that, thanks to Steuby, the Spirit of Footwedge (being all up in arms, while being factually incorrect to an amazing degree) will never die!

USA should declare war on N. Korea. I'm sure wars have been started for less than a movie.

This.

Sony stock takes a bit hit today as a result of the news.
I wonder who was the dumbass that approved going ahead and making this movie anyway. Didn't his mom ever teach him not to taunt thecrazy man down the street?

Sorry, Ernest. Your thread just doesn't have the added bonus of "OP is Full Retard" to make it entertaining enough to post on. Plz try harder.

True. How about the: "Hilarious misspellings and utter cluelessness about what the 1st Amendment actually is" sort of Full Retard?

ETB's own particular blend of Full Retard just can't compete with the pure form.

This definitely sets a terrible precedent. Terrorists now can dictate our entertainment.

If another country did this about our President. We probably would have people complaining but we wouldn't threaten to blow theatres up or hack corporations because we are

Coward move on the part of Sony.

Again, we need tort reform in this country badly. The likelihood of a terrorist attack because of this movie is .00000000000000000000000000000000000000001% or infinitely tiny but because there have been some threats and if they release the movie and something happened Sony could be looking at a massive claim against them.

Blame lawyers not Sony.

I don't disagree with tort reform and I get they want to avoid potential chance of terrorism. Still a cowards move though. At least put it online or through Netflix.
