I know what I have spent on Christmas gifts (I just buy for the wife) $500.00 so far
Now the wife buys gifts all years round for the family and completed the shopping a few weeks ago.. my best estimate $2000.00 plus.
Now add in additional cost of added decorations, new tree lights, cookies and candy, dinners, food, office gifts, wrapping paper, gas for running around. $????.??
What out of your wallet this Christmas?

I am at $450.00 so far. That includes boyfriend, mom, stepdad, one sibling, niece, nephew, two best friends, two tiny humans that belong to close friends and my boss.
I still have to buy for my dad, and have a couple small things to get for a few people listed above.
I should end up right around $550.00 if I had to guess.

My wife purchases everything for our family so I don't ask and don't want to know. We didn't get eachother anything this year other than stocking stuff. So I've spent probably $50

Probably around $500. My husband is hard to buy for because he never wants anything so I just get him some sort of Boston Bruins or Red Sox stuff.

$100 for the 4 parents, $50 for my brother, and $100 on each other. So $650 between the 2 of us. And we gave a girl she works with $25 b/c she seemed to need it.Oh and 2 stupid work gift exchanges for another $30.

When I'm King, Christmas will be limited to 600.00 max per family or 50.00 per family member over 12 members within one family but unlimited home made gifts... if you can build it you can give it away as a gift.

Probably around 800-1000 when it's all said and done, but that's including a flight home...so not so bad. Also single at the moment, so that's a W for the wallet!

Been married for 4 Christmas' and with the wifey a total of 7...never really spent any money for Christmas on each other. Maybe a token gift, but nothing much. We never will either. No sense in getting each other anything. We will use the money better by spending time together, doing something to our house, taking a trip, or bettering our childrens' Christmas'.Automatik;1687535 wrote:Probably around 800-1000 when it's all said and done, but that's including a flight home...so not so bad. Key word "wifey," but I get what you're sayin.
I know some people like that, they usually have kids, but it's still rare to not give gifts.

We had the same when we were boyfriend/girlfriend. I mandated it. I wasn't going to waste money on a girl...who we may never have a future together. I wasted soooooooo much money in the past on girls, so dumb. If she didn't like it, she could've moved on!Automatik;1687538 wrote:Key word "wifey," but I get what you're sayin.

I'm guessing we've spent $500-600 so far this year but I'm not 100% sure. My wife does most of the shopping, I only had to get gifts for my nephew (fishing gear) and my mom's boyfriend (sound bar).

I was off work last year for 3 months due to knee surgery. So his Christmas was kinda lacking. Making up for it this year. Custom gaming PC, Xbox One, Note 3, bunch of Lego's that he wanted, a new bike, RC car, shit load of new clothes.justincredible;1687573 wrote:Damn! What did you get him?

I understand where you're coming from, and it does make sense. I know a lot of other couples who do the same. But I am a phenomenal gift giver, and it's actually a passion for me. I can't imagine not buying gifts for the people I love. Especially the person I love most.OSH;1687569 wrote:We had the same when we were boyfriend/girlfriend. I mandated it.
