I'm in one right now and I don't know how people do it. It's been almost a month since we've been apart and it's killing me. I don't know what's worse being apart or just breaking up. I think it's worth it even though it could be a VERY long time till we see each other.

That'd be hard. In my opinion, in your situation I think not being exclusive would be best. Why? Because you're going to spend so much of your time missing them and not really getting out like you would and sometimes that's what you need.

Obviously, I do not know the entire situation, but that's my general belief.

They are tough, and I'm not sure they are worth it. I can't recall ever hearing of one that succeeded. Unless you have money/time to visit each other often, it's probably not going to work.

Yeah..gotta be rough. I know me and my wife were 2 1/2 hours apart..and that was far enough for me.

They are not worth it, unless its for a short time and after that short time you'll be in a "short distance relationship".

I am currently in a long distance relationship... we're just over 3 hours apart by car. We talk everyday and have incredibly wonderful times when we are together. It's still early in our relationship, but I am totally committed to her and am purposely trying every chance I get to getting closer to her... and she to me.

Yeah I'm really not digging the text, pic mail, phone call thing. It's like a tease and you can only talk/text so much of the same shit over and over again.

I've been in a short distance relationship (marriage) for about 1.5 years. Some times, I wish for a long distance relationship :)

Don't most men wish for this when they're married?

Unless it’s situation such as a spouse in the military, work, etc…. I don’t believe in long distance relationship. When you live in a different place as your mate, all you have is his or her word. You have no idea what they’re doing. Trust me, I been there. I don’t think I would ever do it again.

No, now that is just wrong... come on! Just because I want to be away, doesn't mean I want to cheat on my wife!

It means I want to golf when I want, breath when I want, and not get bitched at for everything. Duh!

Well maybe you don't but probably 25% of married men would LOVE that arrangement provided they could keep their mouths shut.

I agree with the whole golfing when you want to thing

I would be in the minority I guess. I'm lucky enough to have a great wife. She lets me do whatever the hell I want when I want without bitching about it. :p Ok..well almost anything.

My guess is that once Darby finds his wife, she will not only know he likes to golf, but will relish the time away from him while he is doing it.

You know, I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever marry at all. I wanna coach, not sure I'll ever find a woman that understands the time away from home that is needed and involved with the profession, and if you're in the right place at the right time, moving up the ladder can involve a lot of bouncing around to other places... May just pay to be a bachelor and do whatever when I have free time away from stuff.

He's right. She lets me do whatever I want too. She's down for anything.
