After an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Perrysburg, Hall and the school mutually agreed on his departure. What does the future hold for the once storied program?

I think the next competitive balance proposal will ask for paper championships again. Norte Dame will ask for the same thing in CFB.

In other words, how much did they offer him to just walk away?

Pretty sure he will land on his feet. Massillon has a very high standard that they can't meet. It is called winning one on the field...has not been done in the history of the program but yet every coach should be able to do it every year. Funny. Massillon Paper Tigers.

I think we all saw this coming for some time now. With the talent that we have accumulated, there is no excuse to not bring home more national championships.

During the regular season, we beat the D2 opponents on our schedule by an average score of 77-13. We were expected to roll through the D2 tournament, but we suffered one of the greatest upsets in football history instead.

Its a joke that they cant keep a good coach because people have unrealistic expectations. Their loss in Hall is another programs gain. Perrysburg was ranked higher and you played on their turf...not an upset at all to be honest. Looking at the schedule, the only good teams that Massillon played, they lost to. Six playoff appearances in seven years is a heck of an accomplishment. There is too much talent and there are too many good programs and coaches these days to expect to dominate year in and year out. Some schools are able to do that but they are mostly private schools not public schools.

Maybe, maybe not.
Two of the most successful teams in the last 3 years (5 titles, 1 runners up, and still playing this year) are public.....

We have 9 national champions. No one in the entire country has matched that. It is the standard that our program is measured by.

You guys have amazing tradition and your facilities are second to none. The 9 national champions are awesome, but you last won one 53 years ago in 1961. I just took that as, if you don't win a national championship, you're a failure?

Best of luck to you guys in the future.

That is our view every year. I hope that we will never lower our standards. Why shouldn't we strive to continue our tradition as the greatest high school football program in the world?

I wouldn't be surprised if the USA today grants Masillion the National Championship this year... Notre Dame, too.

To feed the troll a little bit...

For those of you who are fans/alumni of schools who HAVE won a state title on the field....would you trade that for Massillon's history of championships?

I wouldnt trade our 4 for their 9. On the field is where it is at.

It's just an example of the watering down of trophies and awards in society. For your four state championships, you competed against approximately 100 schools. For our nine national championships, we competed against tens of thousands of schools.

Isn't it ironic that a Steelers' fan on an Ohio website would call someone else a troll?

Actually it is an example of whom the real champions are when it is decided on the field instead of just a vote by writers who mostly never saw most of the teams they even voted for.

Heard the same thing and don't think there is any truth to it...Lets see Ted Ginn Sr. would leave the Ted Ginn academy to go to Massillon....RIGHT.
