This would only help half the teams though. Maybe it could be a combination of both. I like the higher seed home idea anyway.

Exactly. I thought OSU should be 4, but TCU is justifiably pissed at the same time. They won by 52 and got dropped 3 spots. The committee basically screwed themselves by misranking TCU last week (and earlier, arguably), so when they had to make up for it, it was a load of horseshit in terms of TCU.

The lesson learned is that winning 59-0 trumps winning say 31 to 14. Fuck sportsmanship is the committee's cry.

Go Bucks. Time to not only beat Alabama, but to pound lumps all over them.

Not really worried about Bama, they suck. I'm ridiculously happy we get the opportunity to beat the shit out of the overrated conference champion.

Eventually, I'd like to see an 8-team playoff and stop there. This will almost ensure that you can win your league and get in, and just in-case you don't, who you play OOC will matter. This year, imagine if it was 8 teams? We would have a TON of 2-loss teams with arguments (had some games gone differently yesterday).
8 teams is too much and would ruin the season

I disagree. They could put the power 5 champs in, and 3 at large teams. I do believe one of the big 12 teams this year deserved a shot. And they could play those games in December since the title game is already being played in the middle of January.

No this is college football. I'm sorry but Mississippi State and Michigan State do not deserve to play for a national title, yet your format would include them

Smaller division schools put 16 teams in. Basketball has 65 teams or so.

Disagree. It HAS to happen.

The Power 5 conference champs get auto-bids. 3 at-large bids with one of those going to an independent like the Domers as long as that team is ranked #8 or higher. One at-large goes to the highest ranked Group of 5 mid-major team as long as that team is ranked #15 or higher. The balance of the at-large bids are selected by the committee in the same manner as they just chose this year's Top 4. Then seed the 8 accordingly.

It would NOT ruin the season.

If you are going to move to 8 teams in the future you should take the top 8 teams. The idea of taking a #15 mid major is completely idiotic.

This. I'm not sure how I feel about 8 teams. I was a proponent of 8, but I'm just not sure. Even if OSU were sitting in the 5th spot (or even 7th), I think I'd rather have 6 than 8. I don't think anyone past Baylor or TCU deserved a shot at this thing. You reward 1 and 2 with a bye.

The only teams that should be guaranteed a spot are he champions of the 5 major conferences. The other 3 teams should be the top 3 teams in the country, if not a major conference champ.

So yes, that means ND, all of the other independents, and the mid majors are all treated the same. No more special treatment for teams who refuse to get with the times.

So this year you would have the 5 champs: Bama, FSU, Oregon, OSU, Baylor.

Next up would be TCU, Miss. St., and Sparty.

If you take the next 3 ranked teams. Although I don't think there should be rankings until after the final week of the season, aka yesterday.

Give the top 4 teams home games and then have the semis and champ at neutral fields.

Also, allow the schools to pay for family travel to the games(neutral fields).

Out of 128 schools that play FBS, I think they top 8 deserve a shot.

How does it ruin the regular season? Don't you have to win games to win your conference? Or be an at-large?

6ish% of schools is a very small number.

Double that get a shot at the basketball title.

8 is a very acceptable number.

Because you just gave teams two mulligans to play for a title. Maybe I'm old school growing up in the bowl era but only great regular seasons deserve national titles, and all 4 teams in this season had one. Mississippi State and Michigan State do not deserve to play for a championship and this was IMO a strong year for college football. With 8 you are going to see 3-4 SEC teams in every year

Yea your old school era would have 2 undefeated schools playing against whoever had a conference tie-in and even the modern BCS occasionally has 2 loss teams competing for a championship.

Your old school logic promotes scheduling non conference opponents like Rice, Lamar, and Samford because colleges try to appease old school big wigs who only care about records over who you actually play.

You can't really speculate who the committee would have put in. They aren't tied to these BCS/ap rankings

Did they get it right?
I believe so.

Just think how messed up the BCS system was though.....if they used it Oregon, as some say is the best, wouldnt even be in.

I would be pissed if I was TCU. 3rd going into the last week. Drilled their opponant and drops. yeah, it was just ISU but each team has some dogs on their schedule

IMO, the only people who should be confused or mad about that are the people who failed to comprehend that the committee is actually evaluating on a blank slate each week.

Not talking about you, rather the talking heads yesterday who showed how unintelligent they really are.
