Nice. Big ups to Va Tech and Boise for scheduling this game. It will certainly be a game I look forward to watching

They've been trying to step up their OOC; I thought Oregon was a huge step up. They still have a game open for 2011 and have told people they'll play anybody anywhere and won't require a return game to be put in the contract. Nobody will take them up on it

Yeah I was going to say something about that. Really what incentive do teams have to play Boise? It's a no win situation

You're right. Win and you were supposed to beat them, eventhough they're the best team in the WAC. Lose and have people question how good you are(like Oregon) until you curbstomp USC into obilvion....

They have said that open date in 2011 is basically available to the highest payout!

^^^^

that's probably another reason why somebody won't schedule them; they can schedule an FCS team for less money

I have to admit, I like Boise's swagger. I love their attitude "anybody, anywhere" The success Boise has had with Hawkins, and now with Peterson, is remarkable. There is no reason at all why that school should be so good at football. How many D1 recruits are there in Idaho?

Probably not too many.

You wonder how long that scheduling mentality would last though once they lose 1 or 2 of those games since their league doesn't have an AQ.... It worked in the beginning for Pat Hill and Fresno St. but hasn't paid dividends lately, eventhough they've been close and competitive in the games

That's a solid point with the mention of Fresno State. They were on the cusp in the middle of the decade but have fallen off. Boise State needs to be perfect to make a national impact. The game against Oregon was a huge gamble for them this year, and it paid off immensely.

I think they're a national name and would draw a lot of interest. I would love to see Boise State travel to Columbus and play Ohio State.

you can be close and competitive, and that works for recruiting and so forth and to get yourself in front of the pollsters, but the bottom line is you have to win the game

teams are still avoiding them like the plague.

Frank Beamer isn't scared of anybody. I'm sure the administration approached him with this idea and he said something to the effect of "Hell yeah let's do it"

Frank Beamer is scared of WVU. WVU's administration have been trying to reschedule VT for a few years now. Bill Stewart said he is sick of calling them because they won't return his calls.

I like these games at Fed Ex Field. There are rumors that Penn St and WVU will be playing a game there in 2011.

Penn State is also playing a game against Indiana there. They have a strong recruiting/alumni base in the D.C. area

Afraid that WVU will not be considered a quality win. ;) j/k

I really like WVU just so you know, but that was too easy.

If its down to Florida, Oklahoma, and Michigan, they should take Michigan and get their W over a new first year head coach in Ann Arbor(let's face it people, Dick Rod isn't making it past this year)
