I find it intriguing to study the history of America Wars, mostly to image the hardship, struggles and conditions the soldiers faced on a daily bases. Debate what era, what war or the soldiers of that time was the most effect, combat prepare or harden combat soldiers, could never be conclusive. I admire today young men and women soldiers, the communication, equipment, weaponry are unbelievable. However those brave soldiers that fought in the Civil War the hardship, injury and conditions are unreal to imagine. I have a friend who 87 year old tells me stories of WWII and my wife father who pasted away years ago was a Fly Tiger Ace, loved the time we had together. My mom was a WAC in WWII that was interesting listening to her stories.

Civil War the maiming, lack of medical attention and conditions

Normandy those are some very brave and courageous individuals

Was thinking about this, to a point, while I was watching the movie Troy and how battles were fought many years ago. Civil war would have sucked as many just suffered like crazy, but those battles with swords and arrows and fire way back when would have been terrible.

I think Normandy woulda been horrible as it was just simply throwing a large amount of troops at them knowing so many were just bullet sponges.

Last weekend the wife and I visited the Cleveland Art Museum the area where the Medieval Armor and weapons are displayed was a reminder of just how brutal those times where.
