Do you realize that this was Meyer/OSU FIRST, yes, FIRST regular season loss in over 2yrs? Yes, I didn't like much of what happened last Sat either. But its a LONG season. Reality is, OSU is a young team who lost their best player, a difference maker. Meyer, good or bad, as set expectations to be unrealistic with many fans. Its never as easy as it looks for us. Seriously people, get a grip.
You make a valid point, but a valid counter-point would be...
who have we played in the regular season the last two seasons that warrants consideration?
2012
Out-of-conference games included: Miami (OH), UCF, Cal, & UAB. "Tough" match-ups included: @ #20 MSU, #21 Nebraska, #20 Michigan.
2013
Out-of-conference games included: Buffalo, SDSU, @ Cal, Florida A&M. "Tough" match-ups included: vs #23 Wisconsin, @ #16 Northwestern (
look at NU this season), @ Michigan.
So... to be fair... exactly how many TOUGH games were really won over that stretch? We didn't bring Meyer in to win #20-25 ranked teams/games (
almost any coach at Ohio State could achieve that). We brought Meyer in to beat top tier teams (#8 Clemson, #10 MSU) and we're not. Va Tech didn't do anything complex. They played press coverage and blitzed all night long, and yet Meyer & Herman made FEW adjustments.
Again, I'm not calling for Meyer's head (
I think that's more than absurd), but to say that Meyer doesn't deserve some heat is sticking your head in the sand.
