Feel kinda stupid asking this because I'm pretty techy. Anyways I just got a DVD player with divx playback. Now I know what divx is to a computer and when I download I know they will play .avi files. So does the DVD player work the same? If so can I burn a bunch of .avi files on a DVD and just play it?

Yeah, I download everything in avi form and when I burn them to disk they always play fine.

As for divx, I think it allows movies that are ripped in VOB form to play in the dvd player....not positive though.

I believe some digital camcorders record in divx. I also think some DVD ripping programs record in that format as well.

But isn't .avi divx format? Everything I download in .avi I use a program called covertXtoDVD to convert to dvd format.

.avi will play just fine on your dvd players..you don't need to convert it to anything.

Not sure, but most of the divx stuff is mostly to compress it so it fits on on the disc.
