I don't really think the recent stories in the news had anything to with race. (I believe Wilson needed shot. I think the kid in Cleveland was a tragedy but the officer didn't know it was a bb gun. Are you going to profile people in different areas who look suspicious or who aren't necessarily the demographic of an area? Most likely. I'm white and middle class and have been pulled over before for "no reason." By that i mean, i was lost in a wealthy town at night, driving slow, and i had tinted windows. A cop pulled me over and asked me what i was doing and i explained myself and he got me where i needed to be. I didn't go yelling "i was just profiled and stopped for no reason!" They're doing their job. I've been arrested, i didn't resist and i wasn't tazered or beaten. I don't think there is a problem with profiling. We're white. I have no idea what it's like to be black. Maybe it is just the trouble makers who complain. Maybe it's a non issue. It would appear to me that a large chunk of minorities disagree. Does that mean we shouldn't even consider it? I agree that there will be less racism as older generations die but I don't think it's ok to just accept it. You're ok with people stereotyping, as long as they stay out of certain professions? By the time you've found a job, you already have assumptions about different races, it's impossible to separate the two. In the end, if you don't break the law you won't have to deal potentially racist police, lawyers, and judges. I'm ok with stereotyping if people do it in their personal life. If someone wants to be racist, I think it's wrong, but that's their prerogative.
