I don't understand why they don't do this on New Years Eve....They would get a lot better ratings if they weren't competing against the bowl games. Anywho........Boston should take this one. I don't watch the eastern conference teams a whole lot, but Philly is struggling if I remember correctly.

^^^^^I wish. I'd rather see Pens/Flyers at Beaver Stadium.

^^^That would be fun but since Filthadelphia played this year I doubt that would happen.

In the Washington Post they said that it's likely that the Crapitals will be in next years game. One of the matchups mentioned was Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh.

If this ever happened where would be best? Heinz Field or PNC Park? Obviously more people at Heinz Field but PNC is more picturesque.

They need to be very careful in where they choose to go next year as the last 2 years have been such wild successes that you don't want to take a step backwards. There isn't a Wrigley or Fenway to play at every year, but to keep this event something special you need to create that environment.

I read the NHL will be accepting bids from places and deciding in the next 6 weeks or so for next year. Yankee Stadium is out supposedly as there is talk of a bowl game being played there I guess next year. That would have been the next natural place as the Rangers are the American team of the original 6 not to be in one yet.

I read that Denver is a place the NHL is very interested in as far as hosting the game.

As far as I can gather the baseline criteria to host a game will be cold weather, as impressive venue that can be filled, and a fanbase that is passionate about hockey.

They played an outdoor game in Vegas back in '91 so I guess they could do a warm-weather place like Carolina or Dallas. Carolina seems to have decent fans.

I enjoyed this game, but... I'm not loving the winter classics for a couple reasons. The crowd is so far removed from the action. It competes with New Years Bowls.

^^^^I like the fact that it's competing with the Bowls.

Ohio State can go to hell. They tried to prevent the existence of the team in the first place, but they'd be on board only if it benefited them directly.

They already get enough benefit...their own pathetic arena built by a bunch of liars.

Because the Jackets took a minute bit of a spotlight away from OSU. The Crew will never do that, as MLS will never have the fanbase that the NHL does. The Jackets, however, could take a foothold that OSU feared would cut into their revenue.
