Its a new Season. A New Coaching Staff. New players coming up. What is everyones thoughts On how Rozum will do his 4th Go around. I have very high Hopes. I'm not setting the bar high this year. One is talent is not all there yet. And this is Rozums first year back in 15 years, Hell he has one season under his belt in 24 years or so. He did one hell of job with the 99 squad. I have been told the players have taken very well to coach. and that he already has their confidence. And anyone who thinks the crap that we gotten use to over the last 5 years will keep going. Well bet 2 paychecks that if any player steps out of line off the field they will not be on the field friday nights. Sit back Devil fans Rozum's got this!

How many years do you think Rozum has left in the tank? And if Campbell does indeed struggle this year, as most are expecting, will Rozum even get another year to continue rebuilding?

Any chance of Campbell getting the upset in week 1? Keep in mind, Struthers will still be breaking in 9 new starters on O and 5 new starters on D...

My preseason prediction...

Campbell: 6
Struthers: 28

Too much ground and pound with Witkowski and a good sized OL, and a stingy defense led by a very experienced defensive line.

I think it will be much more competitive than last year's game. Struthers basically had their Freshmen team in in the 4th quarter last year. I still don't see it being all that close. I think Campbell is still a few years away from making this a rivalry again.

Who knows though. It's not even July yet. The next couple months will tell a lot about the Devils...

What are the chances of a Campbell player sending a text message while in the huddle?

Zero! Also this coach will not tolerate any of the crap. he will keep off the team even if it means kicking his best player off the team. trust me on this. he will not allow this to distract the team or his coaches. Punishment will be swift and fair. this is not the same red devils team you all came to love goofing up. This is the start of something special and if there ever was a coach to get campbell back to a powerhouse and to keep players home. He is the one and only. and how much Rozum has in his tank? A hell of a lot. this man is in better shape then most 20 year olds. i don't expect much out if this team this year, but i didn't in 99 either after having one of the worst steaks since the 70. he came in worked with the talent he had and made them number one in there div.

And week one. Who the hell knows there has not been one practise as far as i know. yet. i just know numbers are good and moral is up and so was the kids in the weight room. he knows what he is doing and he knows how to work with what he has. will we beat struthers? Who the hell knows yet! I would hope we could. but i dont even know half the players names. and also its been very quiet on the forums for a reason.i dont even know why that is. especially 2 months a way from kick off.

Fair enough...

The reason I ask how much he has left in the tank is because, as you mentioned above, he's only coached in 1 of the last 24 years. There has to be a reason for that. It's not because I have my doubts about him being able to turn things around. I think he can if given enough time, and hope he does.

Why didn't he come back after the 1999 season?

But you're right. Who the Hell knows what to expect from Campbell this year. That's very fair. No one really knows what kind of talent they even have.

On that same token, it's also fair to say that it's no secret what Struthers can do, who they'll likely feature, and what the expectations are.

Oh no doubt. Rozum only coached the 99 suad cause it was a chance for him coach his son his senior year. Why he has not coached is a mistery . Its not that the fire was not there. it was politics and probably didn't want to. and he had children. he even said i'll coach this season in 99 and that it. Campbell was in a serious Pickle! August was a few days away and no coach. They came to him and he took the chance cause of his son. I would have too. But the man is a Mystery with a lot of things. He is smash mouth down your throat coach.

But yes i know struthers is set pretty good. I dont know if what we have s enough to win or compete . Im lost this season on players. Nothing on players in the forums. and i only got tidbits from friends in campbell and struthers about the team so far.

Im very Happy that rozums back. There have been few coaches with winning seasons in campbells history. since Knapick. And Rozum is the Man.

Rozum committed to multiple years and well see this ninth grade class through possibly more. There were many factors that led to him not coaching. Campbell talent level this year? Poor. Size? Poor. This is a complete rebuild and won't happen overnight. Campbell wins 5 games and that will be a success from what I've seen thus far. We won't hang with Struthers.

Campbell has a good 9th grade class. Unless of course they left or are not able to play due to grades or what not. They'll struggle this year, i think thats no secret.
as for the coach, cmhs is not the same as it was in 99. 15 years can do a lot to a community. The text message post made me lol and i'll place that at 20%.

I say they lose to the wildcats. But perhaps they can compete in the lower tier.

side note* keep crying on facebook it is hilarious. (not you guys, lurkers)

Wow that is crap. My son just turn 19 this june and is very ineligible for his senior season. and he has only played 3 years varsity. We have petitioned the ohsaa about it and still waiting on a answer. He was held back in 1st grade! Ands another thing about Rozum is he would not have took the job if he felt the kids were to far gone and there was no chance to be competitive and have winning seasons. Still have yet to see who he recruited in the school like has done every year he coached that i know of.

Maybe I was told he would be 20 during the school year? Yes he's from Poland. Country not city. I agree special circumstances, but do find it strange having a 20 year old play with a bunch of 15-18 year olds. Hey, whatever you gotta do though. I do t know the kid if he starts , plays, or isn't even a contributor.

He's asking for an injunction in court to let him play. It's a shame if they don't but solely up to the ohsaa commissioner. The part of the bylaw that might get him, is the part that states "if a player gains an athletic or physical advantage because of their age he/she is ineligible". You can mature a lot physically in the 18-19 year old range.

J.J. Johnson from Salem was allowed to play in 2005... I think he played in 9 of Salem's 10 games that year, or something to that effect. Two similar instances... except Luke was never held back a grade. He was just born , and started his schooling, in Europe.

It's very unfortunate. Luke is a great kid, and he didn't do anything wrong. He deserves to play his Senior year.
