Anyone doing any fishing this year? Are you catching any?
I have only been out about ten times but have put quite a bit in the freezer. I done real well with some bluegill at a local farm pond. I think I ended up with 5lbs and plan on having some more before the end of summer. I caught a few big bass this year but none more than 5lbs. I only been cat fishing once, only caught one. It was about 8lbs the guy I was with caught 12 the same night. He dont eat fish so he let me have em. Ended up with with 26 fillets that will be blackened at our neighborhood party. Caught some crappie and a few perch but nothing to really brag about. Hope everyone that has been fishing is having a better year then me.

Not a fisherman, go out maybe once or twice a year on to Lake Erie walley, perch mostly. Haven't gone out yet this year.

Havent been up to my cottage yet this summer, which is where I do my fishing. I dont mess around with anything other than fly-fishing though.

My boyfriend and I like to fish, but we have only been once so far this year, and it was at my parent's pond. His family has a house at Chippewa Lake, which is where we typically go. We catch and release no matter where we are fishing.

I've done some little league pan fishing with my boys. We haven't caught anything worth keeping. Been out catfishing twice, caught 2 small ones at Kiser Lake. I think the plan is to go out this weekend and try some more catfishing.
I don't fish a lot, but I enjoy it when I do.

Crappie fishing has been good on Grand Lake this spring.
Did some fisthing on Lake James in NE Indiana last week. It isnt a big fishing lake but we usually do ok with mostly bass, bluegill and some perch. Sometimes a crappie and cat thrown in there as well. We catch enough for two fish fries so cannot complain.

Are you allowed to eat fish out of lake Erie? Mercury content has to be high.vball10set;1629911 wrote:I have not, but I have reaped the benefits of my father-in-law doing so--lots of Lake Erie perch and walleye in my freezer---yum!

You really should limit your intake to once a month of some species found in Lake Erie, namely white perch, bass, carp (yuk), channel catfish, and steelhead trout, but yellow perch and walleye are good to go...and fwiw, PCB's are the reason, not Mercury.Zoltan;1629930 wrote:Are you allowed to eat fish out of lake Erie? I've been fishing probably 40 times so far this year, I done real well on Crappie this spring at Deer Creek, Alum Creek, Deleware Lake and Rush Creek got about 15-20 lbs of fillets in the Freezer.also this spring did real well on Trout at Dow Lake. Did well at Dillon Lake for Stripers and Channel Cat.
But I spend most of My time on the Hocking River Catfishing or wading for Small Mouth Bass, biggest Cat this year is 17 lbs and biggest Smallie is just shy of 6lbs
Havent had a chance to hit the Muskingum for Fltheads yet but as soon as the water level goes down the bite should be on

I haven't fished in years but will be doing plenty of it when I head up to the BWCA in a few weeks. I plan on eating fish for every meal the 5+ days we are out in the wilderness.
