Where do you live: In the city, suburbs or country what the positives an or negatives?

Having been a homeowner in a neighborhood-style suburb for more than a decade, get me to the country. Two to four acres, perhaps five, and let me be.

Small town about 25 minutes away from Toledo. I miss living in a bigger town like BG simply because it had things. I do like being out in the country however the long drives to get simple things like groceries or clothes or even eat out is a tad ridiculous. PROS: Lot of friends in the vicinity (30-min radius), easy access to larger places like Columbus or Cleveland while still having peace and quiet where I live.
CONS: In the immediate small-town area, the social scene is lacking as fuck.

Small city, don't have to deal with traffic unless I want to go to the metro area which is not too far away. I lived in a metro area for a few years, much prefer leaving the garage door open and not having to lock all the doors to the autos and house. Don't have to worry about crime much here.
The restaurants here in the immediate city suck, but I can get to better places within 30 minutes.

Pros: Pretty much anything I need is a reasonably short drive (especially having grown up in a small town where going to a decent grocer took about 30 minutes one way).
Cons: I get hit up for money nearly every fucking day

City
Pros: Walkable, no car, infinite things to do, any type of food known to man, tons of bars clubs, fantastic music scene
Cons: Expensive as fuck

City.
Pros- Very convenient, tons of stuff to do, restaurants, bars and grocery stores are close and it only takes a couple minutes to get to the highway.
Cons - Everything else. Small yard, houses are close together, my daily commute enrages me, the schools are horrible.
My goal is to move to a small town about 15 minutes outside the city before I have children who are school-aged (so we're talking like 6-7 years from now).

I've lived in just about every scenario and they all have their own perks.
I favor small communities due to traffic. I've dealt with enough traffic in Columbus to be done with that bs.

Pros: no bums, quiet, can walk outside and take a pee without going to jail, able to have a large garden, tons of fruit trees in the yard, Thirty minutes to columbus or dayton, 5 minutes to krogers or walmarts, and well its quiet.
Cons: Neighbor likes to know my business, deer like to eat my pepper plants, and well thats about it.

City. It's awesome. Negatives are it can be dirty, and I get sick of being asked for money, donations, supporting this cause, joining a church, signing this petition, saving that tree, etc....

Are bums that big of a negative? I walk by 10 a day and I've never once thought "these people are annoying". I just walk by them (occasionally give money).

I like the small town.
Pros: I live across the street from the convenience store. Quieter. Peaceful backyard, almost like we lived in the country.
Cons: Everyone knows your shit. I'm 20 minutes from any Wal-Mart, etc.

Grew up in country, also lived in city, and currently live in suburbs. All have their pros and cons. My end goal is to live in the country within a reasonable commute to the city. May move back to the city if I decide to relocate to Houston. Pop. is growing so fast down their that they can't keep up with the infrastructure.

They are more of an annoyance. Most big cities hide them well except for San Diego. So many bums. They are everywhere. They are also annoying you can't walk anywhere with out getting hit up, we have to have locks on our dumpsters. Pretty much an eye sore all over San Diego. Small town....an 8 iron from the main drag on very southern tip of town. Walmart is about a Par 5 away.....but none of the businesses can be seen.
Positives are being ridiculous close to everything I need of the town and things are pretty quiet.....negatives are there are a lot of dumb shits in SE Ohio and bigger cities are 70-100 miles away.
