My contract is up on 6/1 and I'm looking for a new phone. Galaxy S5 or note 3? Is there something better I'm missing?

If you're between those two and you want something right away, go with the S5 over the Note 3.
If not, it might be smart to wait through the summer to see what launches hit over the next few months.

If you're on VZW, make sure it's XLTE compatible (most of their new phones are, sure the S5 and Note 3 fit the bill). Also might want to make sure it's VoLTE (digital/HD voice) compatible...apparently the new phones are, or will be with a software upgrade but probably won't matter if they charge you a premium for the service.
Otherwise I hate these huge display screens. IMO people look ridiculous with them, especially the Note 3.

I think the Moto X+1 is due out shortly...supposedly will have a 5.2" screen.

My guess is the Moto X+1 is the next Android up. Apple will probably be launching the new iPhone in August. But it didn't seem like you were interested in that. HTC recently launched a phone, and Samsung obviously launched the S5 recently. Complete forgot about that. Great price for the specs (way too big for me, but if one were considering the Note 3...). Running Cyanagonmod, the OS should be about as reliable as anything out there.
