Sounds like there's a good possibility that Columbus and Penn National may be able to place the Columbus casino in another location...

As stated earlier, they're looking at the old Cooper Stadium location (at 71/70/315 on the SW side of downtown, two sites at i-270 and West Broad Streets - and a site "near Polaris Parkway" . The latter is likely to be part of the old Polaris Amphitheater site at I-71 and Polaris Parkway.

Everyone might get what they want here....

Note - the two west-side sites, although currently in Franklin Township, could be easily annexed into the City of Columbus.

The old Amphitheater is in Delaware county and in Westerville.

Definitely in Delaware County, but I am pretty certain all of the Polaris corridor was annexed by Columbus about 15-20 years ago.

No, my office is on Polaris right by 5 guys and such and we are westerville.

Either way, Delaware county won't let it happen in their county.

Polaris would be a horrible location anyway. It already gets tons of people, so there is no need to draw more people to the area, it is heavily residential as well as commercial area, the casino would really suffer at night, andc what happens if the area dies in 15 years? they are stuck with it.

Cooper stadium would be a great location. It could really help to clean up the area and it would be a nice extension of both the arena district and the brewery district.

I believe that everything right along I-71 and west of I-71 is Columbus, over to about US-23.

The amphitheater site itself is the City Of Columbus. Westerville starts right down the hill by Five Guys (I work at Cleveland and Polaris,). Remember the battles between Columbus and Westerville over the more restrictive noise ordinance passed by the latter?

I would think Delaware County would love to get the revenue, with perhaps the exception of the folks who live off of East Powell Road east of I-71. Then again, after having to listen Steven Tyler yowling until midnight every year for ten years, a casino would not be much worse from their point of view. It could also be that they are considering a site a quarter-mile south off of Polaris that would be in Franklin County.

Traffic would now feed directly on I-71 at the Gemini Parkway ramps, so the increased traffic wouldn't affect the area as it did when there were concerts (now THAT was a clusterhump).

I agree - but the noise got pretty bad at times, DP. We could clearly hear some of the concerts over at the interzection of Polaris and Old State Road two miles away before they built the mall - it sounded liked someone in the parking lot with a kicker in their car.

I specifically recall stopping at the McDonalds at the SE corner of Polaris and I-71 about 9:30 one night when Aerosmith was playing - The Voice Of God In the Form Of Stephen Tyler came booming across the lot " Hey Columbus - how the F*** are you?" at about 95 decibels. You couldn't use the drive thru speakers - you had to drive up the window on the "leeward" side of the building and shout your order to them in person.

It was fun to bring in clients from small towns in the South and take them out to lunch when Lollapalooza was in town.

Plenty of empty storefront in Lancaster maybe we can get a satellite casino down here.

I know a decent amount of Delaware county officials and they don't want anything to do with a Casino, it has been discussed before.

I hope they can work this out. The Arena District probably isn't the best place -- but then again, if the Jackets move and the arena goes belly up, they may wish they had put the sucker there.

Something that extends the Brewery District would be my choice. Those West side locations don't connect to anything and would be a waste, in my view.
