I am absolutely against this fo a couple of reasons

1. Kasich is for it.

2. The state should not be on the hook for a municipal or city liability.

Issue One
Proposed Constitutional Amendment
TO FUND PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENTS BY PERMITTING THE ISSUANCE OF
GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS
Proposed by Joint Resolution of the General Assembly
To enact Section 2s of Article VIII of the Constitution
of the State of Ohio
A majority yes vote is required for the adoption of Section 2s.
This proposed amendment would:
1. Authorize the state to issue bonds or other obligations to finance or
assist in financing public infrastructure capital improvements for local
governments and other governmental entities. Capital improvement
projects would be limited to roads and bridges, waste water treatment
systems, water supply systems, solid waste disposal facilities, storm water
and sanitary collection, storage, and treatment facilities.
2. Determine that such capital improvements are necessary to preserve
and expand the public infrastructure, ensure public health, safety and
welfare, create and preserve jobs, enhance employment opportunities, and
improve the economic welfare of the people of Ohio.
3. Limit the total principal amount of the state general obligations issued
under the amendment to no more than $1.875 billion over a ten-year
period, with no more than $175 million issued in each of the first five
fiscal years and no more than $200 million in each of the next five fiscal
years. Any principal amount that could have been issued in any prior
fiscal year, but was not issued, may subsequently be issued.
4. Require that obligations issued under this amendment mature no later
than thirty (30) years after their date of issuance, and that any obligation
issued to retire or refund other obligations mature no later than the
permitted maturity date for the obligations being retired or refunded.
5. Authorize the General Assembly to pass laws implementing this
amendment, including laws establishing procedures for incurring and
issuing obligations, and laws providing for the use of Ohio products,
materials, services and labor to the extent possible.
If approved, the amendment shall take effect immediately.
A “YES” vote means approval of the amendment.
A “NO” vote means disapproval of the amendment

My issue with it would be the idea of cutting taxes, then borrowing to perform needed work. Disingenuous political nonsense.

This is a "national" issue that is really going to pick-up steam and come to a head in the next 10-20 years.

Talking about state and city/local pensions, of course. The first crack in the damn will be when muni buyers start making demands to insulate themselves from the pension risk.

I was actually at the polls waiting 5 minutes for a guy that wanted to vote in the tea party primary. SMFH

That guy is just anxious to remove the clusterf*** that's running the country.....poor guy probably doesn't have a good shepherd to load him on a bus, drive him to the polls, and tell him who to vote for.

Well maybe Republicans should start trying to get people to the polls if they want to win elections instead of just scream on talk radio.

Republicans win plenty of elections. That's how you get a democrat to bitch about gerrymandering.

Anyways its demographics. Extremely high percentages of potential democrat voters are found in highly populated urban areas. Conversely higher percentages of potential republican voters tend to be found widely dispersed in rural areas. Screaming on talk radio is an effective way to reach them and its why its got you people foaming at the mouth over it.

His district actually IS reasonable.

Look at some of these (and before I post this, yes this is a list of the crap the Rs pulled this last time, but let's not act like the Ds didn't do the same dang thing when they were in charge...both parties suck).

It is shitty now, it was shitty then...does that make you feel better?

I actually said in the post you quoted that this is the list of the crap that the Rs pulled the last time. That, to anyone with a 3rd grade reading comprehension, would indicate that I believe it is bullcrap, or shitty.
