Pretty pumped about this...I've wanted to watch "The Wire" and "Six Feet Under" for awhile and never got around to it...

This is a big deal for Amazon.

Has nothing to do with Netflix.

It's only for old programming. Still pretty cool but it's not like hbo go where you can stream the new GoT episode from last night.

The biggest thing is that it signals a bit of a change in HBO's strategy. The first time they've offered their programming without a cable subscription.

In terms of content, as S&L says, it is going to be well behind the times, but the potential is bigger than the actual act at this point.

No. HBO only releases their shows via DVD (like a month before the new season starts).

This is a big change for them, and a smart one. All their old programming has probably hit a plateau, revenue wise, and getting people hooked on that stuff who have never seen it will only drive their subscriptions up even more.

If I can watch The Sopranos, Oz, The Wire and Entourage, it's worth it.

Yeah, they arent stupid lol. No one would pay for HBO if you could get it for half the price on Amazon Prime.

I wouldnt expect anything within the last 3 years to be aired. If they are smart, they will just try to get new viewers to their old stuff and try to get them hooked on HBO programming so they will subscribe.

Maybe in time we will see them air a show that is about to start a new season, so people will get hooked and then subscribe for the new season.

Full series, or just the first season? I saw that only the First season of the Sopranos was on there.

I think it depends on the age of the show or something..I haven't read up on the details yet.

I just checked Sopranos and all seasons say 'prime', so they are all available for free now (with prime). I just went to the season 1 page, then there is a dropdown for all of the other seasons and they all say 'prime'.

I buy all sorts of shit and two day ship it. It's great for everyday items (shampoo, deodorant, qtips etc).

Most credit cards let you use cashback points to buy stuff too.

Probably worth the $80 but definitely worth the $50 for the student version.
