as the bright shiny New Year is upon us...

Who here has done the Times Square New Year's Eve thing...?
never done it, but it is one of those "bucket-list" type of things that I say I'm going to do eventually, just to say I've done it...(unfortunately I'll have to get over my aversion to 1. cold weather, 2. millions of strangers, 3. Dick Clark, and 4. New Yorkers first, but that is another story)...maybe next year...

Any stories or advice?

Don't care to do it, watched fireworks on 4th of July in NYC and there were way to many people.

Never did the Times Square, but we did New York on New Years Eve in 2004. Went to a club about four blocks from the ball and it was awesome.

Don't think I'd do Time Square.

After the first time I was there, I mean, it was cool and all, but now when I'm in NY I don't even go there

Sorry, I still think a majority of the people there are from the NYC area.

You would be wrong. I could walk over to Times Square on any given weekday, and more than half of the people there would be tourists, or those who work in the area before commuting home. No New Yorker hangs out in Times Square, its only for tourists, especially on New Years. People who live remotely close would hang out just west of there (Hell's Kitchen) or just south (Chelsea).

I hate NYC. Would never go there for New Years.

It depends on how you define area, we lived on W. 52nd street for 3 years, just a block from where they start herding people in, we had to carry our drivers licenses just to get to our apartment building if we left. There might be some people that train in from CT, Long Island or Jersey, but there aren't too many city people there. Look at the tv telecasts, how many Puerto Ricans or other minorities do you see on camera? NYC is full of them, yet all I see on tv are white people from wherever.
