Deserved its own thread. As pathetic as most SEC programs are in basketball, I can see Auburn being a legit contender. Fertile recruiting grounds, new arena and in a conference where nobody outside of Florida and Kentucky is consistent in the sport.

Isn't it just a rumor or is it official?

Official now. Press conference later today. Apparently, the AD for Auburn was the lead investigator into the Pearl matter while working for the NCAA. There's definitely a connection there and it sounds like he knows everything about why Pearl was busted. His show-cause expires in August, when he will be able to start official coaching/recruiting duties.

Good hire. Worth the risk for a school like Auburn. I'm not a fan of Pearl, though I love his coaching style, but a good hire.

Would've enjoyed Pearl at Va Tech or any other ACC opening. He is a great coach and his teams are fun to watch.

He'll have to work even harder than he did at Tennessee, but I suppose Auburn has some potential with Pearl at the helm. Wish he'd gone somewhere else, though.
