CIT and NIT out. NIT has announced times and networks but it was only what I saw on the selection show. They haven't uploaded their damn bracket yet.

nice match up between OU and CSU. Potential for lots of rematches in the CIT.

Everything is out now. CBI/CIT may add more game times later, who knows.

In terms of the MAC, Buffalo is left out of everything.

Surprised Wright State accepted.

In the paper the other day the coach mentioned how they would probably not accept any of those lesser tournaments this year. A few years ago they did when they were a young team, but right now they had a good number of seniors on the roster and didnt think it would help the team going forward.

Why wouldn't Wright St. want the exposure? They have a very quality arena, and can build on their advancement in any one of the lower tournaments.

This is part of the article I wsa talking about from last week.

A few hours after missing out on a Horizon League championship and berth in the NCAA tournament with a 69-63 loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the Wright State men’s basketball team found out it is has a chance to play at least one more game.
WSU athletic director Bob Grant confirmed the team received an invitation to play in another postseason tournament, but whether the Raiders accept the offer is something he and coach Billy Donlon will have to discuss.
“It’s not as easy as ‘Hey, we’re invited, let’s go,’ ” Grant said. “There are so many other factors involved.”
There are travel costs if it’s a road game. And if a home game is offered, there are guarantees and commitments to play in other tournaments down the road. And at the top of the list is the physical and mental well-being of the student athletes.
“There are other important things, such as how are the kids feeling? Do they have any basketball left in them,” Grant added. “How banged up are we? How are we academically? This is not a win-at-all-costs place, so that’s a big factor.
“I’ve been the AD here since June of 2008, and we’ve been invited every year but one to play in one of those tournaments. And we’ve respectfully declined every year except last year.”
Last year after losing the Horizon League championship game at Valparaiso, Wright State jumped at the chance to play in the College Basketball Invitational because the team had such a young roster. And by winning two games against Richmond and Tulsa before losing to Santa Clara in the semifinals, it was a great chance to start working toward 2013-14.
“If we weren’t going to do it last year, we were never going to do it, because we were bringing everybody back,” Donlon said. “But this year we have five seniors who play a significant amount. If you play in a tournament, you’re trying to win. You have to play your best guys. So when you’re thinking about it in terms of preparing for next season, how much is it really helping?”
Grant said he will meet with Donlon today and they should have a decision Friday. Not much was discussed Wednesday as the emotions from Tuesday night’s loss were still raw.

I saw this evening on PTI where Indiana declined an offer to play in the CBI. Apparently, the CBI was not amused. Indiana's president or AD (can't remember which) responded that "this is Indiana. Indiana doesn't play in the CBI." Good for Indiana.

There's nothing wrong with smaller schools with no national championship tradition accepting bids to these smaller tournaments, as, like others have stated, any exposure is good exposure for the most part. It gets them on TV. But Indiana, Kentucky, UCLA, Duke, Kansas and North Carolina should never, under any circumstances play in the CBI.

There's nothing I hate more than this holier than thou bullshit from the "traditional powers." We don't storm the court because we are too good for that... it's so stupid.

I think it's more that for the traditional powers -- as well as championship schools in that next tier like Arizona, Syracuse, UConn, Florida, Louisville -- the CBI and CIT are tournaments with no meaning or significance that neither the coaches nor players nor fans care to win. It'd be like a 5-7 Ohio State football team that did not get into a bowl game being selected to play in the College Football Experience to play the 3-9 Tulane Green Wave. No one at OSU would give a fuck.

It'd be like osu accepting to play in a bad bowl. Which they absolutely should. If you suck, you need practice...and these give you that opportunity.

They do, however, occasionally go 40-68 in conference play over a 6 year stretch.

I get the practice angle, but if we're being honest here, if a school like Indiana or Duke or North Carolina or Kansas can't get into the NIT, then it doesn't deserve to be playing basketball this time of year. The team had six months to get better. Sometimes it's just better to shut it down and start afresh next season.

Especially a team like this years IU squad. In games against less than big names they didnt get up for, and if they had played in either of those two I would expect a very lacksidasial approach and get embarrassed.

PLus....it would only be a couple of practices. It isnt like some of those bowl games where you practice for a couple of full weeks.

The AD/Prez probably shouldnt have said it.

Ohio and EMU advance, Akron out.

TOledo was down 15 at half but opened up the second half on a 14-3 run

Ohio's season went out last night to VMI. Oh well, at least they beat Wright State on Saturday while I was in a group of friends where one of them was a Wright alum, so I got one final burst of trash talking in before it all went crashing down.

Wright State underachieved all year, so that's not all that impressive.
