Teams needed for the 4th Annual
Delaware Spring Freestyle Duals
Saturday April 19, 2014; 10am

Tournament Format: The goal, of course, is experience and quality competition. So, format will change depending on how many teams show interest. Last year, teams got 5 duals and we were done by 4pm.
• If 5 teams, we’ll run a 5 team pool. 4 matches per team.
• If 6 teams, we’ll run a 6 team pool. 5 matches per team.
• If 7-8 teams, we’ll run 2 pools of 4 that feed into an 8-team bracket. 4-5 matches.
• If 9-10 teams, we’ll do 2 pools of 5, then a championship round. 4-5 matches.
• If 11-16 teams, we’ll run a 16-team double-elimination bracket with consolation match-ups so that everyone gets. 4-5 matches.

Past Participating Teams: Vengeance WC (Delaware), TNT (Teays Valley), Orange Crush WC (Lewis Center), OH Capitals WC (Hilliard), Team Stomp (Lima), Green Machine (Youngstown), Flint Tropics (CC, Grove City), Galion-Northmor-Lexington, WRAGE (Sunbury), Columbus WC, Fredericktown...

Times: 8:30am doors and lockers open; Wrestling begins at 10am. We will run straight through on 4-6 mats..

Weights: OH HS weights + 4 lbs. (106 is 110; 113 is 117; etc.) No formal weigh in. We’ll use the honor system and trust that no one is going to put a 120-pounder out there for the 106 match and so on.

Rules: Freestyle rules. Three 90-second periods.

Entry Fee: $300 per team; checks made out to Pacer Mat Backers and sent to Josh Heffernan, 289 Euclid Ave., Delaware OH, 43015. A $100 deposit is due by April 6, 2014. The rest can be brought on meet day.

Food: There will be concessions available.

We do have some open weights on some teams...so, if individuals are interested in coming out on April 19th for some freestyle matches, we have openings at 113, 160, 170, 195. Is the schedule set ? How many teams did you end up with ?

We'll have 8 teams on four mats starting at 10am. The line-ups coming in look very solid. Still waiting on 2 teams' line-ups, but, so far: 9 state placers, 11 state qualifiers, 23 District Qualifiers, and some junior high state qualifiers. Teams competing are Vengeance WC (Delaware), Northmor & Co. (Northmor and extras), WRAGE (Big Walnut & extras), Green Machine 1 (Austintown Fitch), Green Machine 2 (Youngstown Boardman), Orange Crush (Olentangy Orange), Flint Tropics (Central Crossing & extras), TNT (Teays Valley & extras). We have extras coming from all over Central OH, Cincy, Athens, and up north...even one from New Jersey! I'll post line-ups and schedules soon. Should be some very good wrestling.

Nice amount of teams and more to possibly show on Saturday. Good to see the mixture of different schools far and near on teams should be really fun for the guys.
