First off, fuck you all who want to make jokes about me and my history with dogs.

We live on a busy road, and the dog got out and was hit this morning, died. We have a fenced in back yard, but he has discovered that he is skinny enough to fit through slots in the fence. He's usually tied up, but we let them run at times... we just have to watch him like a hawk and holler at him when he goes close to the fence and attempts a break through. Wife let them out this morning and turned her back for a decent amount of time, and he was gone. Called the police to report a missing dog, and they informed me of the location where he was laying, as he had already been reported as hit. Rushed him to vet, and he died within 10 minutes, due to internal bleeding in the lungs. He was only 8 months old.

Sucks.

That sucks. I see my dog getting older (he's 8 now) and I can't imagine losing him, even though I know it's coming. To lose a young dog suddenly must really suck.

My dog will be 8 in July, but I still see him as young. I know this is probably naïve, but he still looks the same, plays like a puppy, and just really has not changed much in the seven years I have had him. He is also a smaller dog, so I am hoping he will be alive for at least another four years. It's very possible. I can't even think about losing him without getting upset.

Sorry about your dog, ETB. I would be a wreck.

Surprised you didn't take the dog back because he barked too much.

Weren't you the one who said that? And also admitted you just leave your dog outside?

I feel sorry for the dog, but not you.

Was that the stolen one that was posted the other day? Was there ever an update on that?

Wow that makes for a bad day at the ernest_t_bass house...

Little over a year ago we had to put down our Golden that was just over a year old.
Our present Golden is going on 11 years old now so we know what the future will be be at some point.
Our newest puppy Golden Doddle 14 weeks now is crazy but he has given Murphy the old Golden some new life but at the end of the day the old guy is beat.

Yeah, that is the one.

Not much more to report. Random sightings from people on cralgslist saying they saw his pics on CL for sale, and some using the same pic we used but each time then I check and it was taken down. I am thnking that people are just seeing his pic as missing, seeing other dogs being sold, and in their mind it crosses and they think it is him.

I expect to either find him this spring/summer in someones yard playing or alongside the road.

The last ditch hope is that the one person who said they were in contact wiht a seller siad they would meet in a blue sedan. Across the street there is one and we reported it to the dog warden/deputy sheriff but to no avail.

Yeah, they don't really have anything to go on. You'd need more evidence than a blue sedan.

Ours is 5 and definitely acts like a puppy...I'm not sure he's ever going to get over that stage, not that we mind. My black lab stopped being puppy-ish around 2, but was an awesome for 15 years. I guess it depends on the dog.

I'd say something mean and insensitive, but I don't have a dog in this hunt.

First of all, My sympathies to you and your family. Losing a pet is like losing one of the family!!! 2nd, get rid of the photo of the Cincinnati guy: thumbup:.

But I'm totally serious about my 1st two sentences. Hope your family is dealing with his passing alright! Its not easy on anyone who cared for him!

Good luck ernest_t_bass, sometimes those dogs are the only ones happy to see you when you come home.

Not sure if it was on this site but someone once posted " if you lock your wife and your dog in the trunk of your car for a hour, open the trunk...... who is going to be happier to see you? (I know, sick joke but I still can't help grinning):).

For Gods Sake quit with the dogs already...your situation isn't ideal for their survival expectancy and you damn well know it. Say GFY to me all you want ETB but you know this one is on you.

I'm sorry about the loss.

From the thread title, all I thought about was this:

Sorry to hear that, my dogs are family and I would be devastated.
