The Rugby Sevens World Series is on NBCS. I know the US doesn't have a history of doing well in world competition, and I never played Rugby, but I had this discussion with my friend. If NFL players played Rugby, how good would the US be? Can you imagine a 7s starting lineup of AP, beast mode, mccoy, jamal charles, Forte, Navorro Bowman, and Patrick Willis?

I mean, have you seen that lineup? WOW

Some guy from the lions played yesterday and had a couple nice plays. I think he was on the practice squad.
Ahman Green also plays.

My friend played against haloti ngata in high school. They played him in the national championship tournament. He said ngata would just destroy people and was actually kicked out of the championship match. Said ngata had a brother who was also a beast.

I think if our best played in each sport we would be unbeatable as a country in any sport. Soccer? Ok imagine if guys like Reggie Bush, Jamaal Charles, Adrian Peterson, Lebron James, Chris Paul for instance all played. The athletic ability alone would be almost too much, haha a 6'9" 275 guy with super athletic ability on headers would be devastating

How would the NBA guys react to being in a sport where flopping doesn't get you anything?

Being tall and heavy is not an advantage in soccer...

Haha they probably were growing up, shoot Calvin Johnson was blasting homers in BP with the Tigers earlier this season. If Lebron gave his life to soccer I guarantee he wouldn't be as heavy

I suppose I'm not surprised your best example is of Calvin Johnson excelling in the ever difficult batting practice. And regardless of which sport Lebron plays, he's still 6'8", which is going to make him considerably heavier than the average soccer player.

Why would we need guys from so many teams? We could just take the Detroit Tigers and they would win the Superbowl, world cup, Stanley cup, Davis cup, federation cup, NBA championship, world series, America's cup, and 50 Olympic gold medals. Have you seen their lineup?

This thread could turn into what other sports might some of the players have been very good at.

Didn't they already do this before... It was a battle of the athletes show. I think a soccer player won. It's old someone needs to ask belly he will remember

Tom Glavine reportedly was a very good hockey player but chose baseball.

Wisely it seems!

ALot of guys in the big 4 sports probably could have excelled in other sports. Hell, dave winfield was drafted in what...3 sports? For the most part, professional athletes are, of course, very athletic and if the effort was put towards another sport they easily could have excelled
