Love the family Christmas party kinda like Thanksgiving but bring your own
Open house Christmas (Who in the hell are those people. I ask my wife. Why where we invited ?) .. get in - get out, eat and leave …say hello and good bye, everyone happy and nobody remembers if you showed up or not...</SPAN>
Hate Office Christmas Parties, Business Parties and Vendor type Parties… enjoy the people, the conversation and great food but really the same ass kissers every year, same drunk, same frisky wives and the same embarrassment moment of the middle age manager trying to impress the new 28 year old, hot women in the red dress by dancing ( so sad).</SPAN>
Church group/ Chore /Bible study Christmas party…. Holy, Holy, Holy get me out of here… I know the people and they aren’t saints, get real this pretending not going to fool GOD. Love it when the little groups gather to complain. Hey! The food good but a good wine or beer would make it better.
The wife gives me the warning that I’m to behave myself….30 years and she really thinks that going to happen. Good News however we get invited back every year I tell her. I will admit there are a few people that are cool and not a fraud, they reall don't want to here also but the majority are fakes impressing no one. </SPAN>
The Friends Christmas Party ..Ok now we are talking party. Been going on for years, the drinks are standard popular beverage, food is always top shelve, plenty of it, Christmas music in the back ground but everyone can hear each other talking, conversation is in every topic know to mankind, game room fun, pool table challenge is on, old school arcade rocks, big screen game on. Christmas gift random exchange is always funny, last year was a used gift (regifted) exchange. The Newbie friends are clueless...</SPAN>

I'm a fan of Xmas parties.
My office party was on Friday. 4 star restaurant, open bar, everyone dressed up. It was awesome. I was hammered and thankfully didn't do anything to embarrass myself.

Xmas gatherings for companies are quite common. You'll find similar office parties throughout the country.

Not attending due to it being in Philadelphia this year. Gas etc would be covered but don't have the time.

Our office party is a mixed bag.
It's a potluck and there's a lot of good food = positive.
It's during the day with no alcohol = bad.
There are a lot of annoying bitches in the office that constantly annoy me and they don't suddenly stop being annoying for the duration of this meal/get-together = fucking horrible.
So, as far as Xmas parties go, I like them if they're being held by friends where we can just get blasted. One of my friends did that last year, but I don't think he's planning a repeat, as he found out his house isn't really designed to hold 100+ people. And someone there was an asshole who swiped some of his stuff, too, which fucking sucked. It was a great time while it lasted...

I contemplated making a thread like this but decided against it since I'd just look negative.
Our office christmas parties are pretty miserable. Our company is split off into different groups. When the party rolls around, each group basically just keeps to themselves...so it's pockets of people standing around BSing with one another.
This years is off-site and falls on a weekend so I'm not going to bother going.

Our work party was great this year.
Cocktails and Dinner at The Final Cut inside the Hollywood Casino and then gambling and free drinks the rest of the night.

The only Christmas party we go to is my wife's family. They throw a good one, so it's normally a pretty good time. Other than that, I don't really care for them.

Don't care for the company parties - I'm not one for large social events in any case, any my employer's never held them (a lot of us are not of Christian faith).
My wife's company USED have really nice parties (food, band, limited bar plus cash bar option) - it was always held at one of the state park lodges or a similar location. Unfortunately, about ten years ago, one of the employees and her husband tried to drive home after getting severely blitzed and hit another car, with three resulting fatalities. Naturally everyone sued the company, who settled out of court with all parties (include the employee) - the amount was never disclosed, but the accountants set aside over two million dollars over time to cover related payments and expenses. No more parties, as you can imagine.

No work party here. With only my boss, his son and me in the office, it would be pretty weird/lame. We do try to go out to dinner around the holidays if we can coordinate a time. This year we are supposed to go to Melt, which is just fine by me.
My family Christmas is basically a big party. We get together with another family and drink and play Win, Lose or Draw. It's always a shit show, but a really good time.

We have a lot of parties every year.
One party with a family that my wife and her family grew up with. Small party for just the two families, always a good time.
Calamari Night. Generally one or two nights after Christmas, at her parents house. Huge party with tons of people. Her dad fries calamari every year, hence the name. But it's just a standard get-together outside of that. Always a good time.
Christmas Eve with my extended family every other year. It's held every year but we alternate between spending Christmas in Cincinnati (her parents) and back home with my mom. It's the only chance I get to see a lot of cousins so it is, yes, always a good time.
Work party. We're a small office so we tend to do something different every year. First year it was pizza and bowling. One year we did one of the paint your own pottery things with pizza and booze. Last year we did a Cincinnati Cyclones (minor league hockey) game and dinner. This year we are doing dinner and ice skating. Always a good time.
Unfortunately I have one party on Wednesday (the real one, not the perpetual one) that I am not looking forward to. It is a client "party" that goes from 11:30am until after dinner. They did the same thing last year, luckily I wasn't invited. This year, not so lucky. First they do lunch, then they go buy gifts for a family they "adopted" for the holidays. Which is nice. But last year one of the jackasses boxed all of the department store hangers (you know, garbage) and wrapped it as if it were a gift. Because he's an asshole. And I'm sure he'll be just as annoying this year because that's just how the guy is. Then we physically drop the gifts off to the family. No thanks, I'll stay in the car. Then we go get drinks, dinner at a really nice restaurant, then more drinks. The end of the day sounds great, but I don't want to spend all day with the jackass that thinks it's cool to wrap a box of garbage and give it to a needy family as a "gift."
