I think this offense was more dependent on Miller to do it all than those QB's.

If thats the case, its a no brainer then. lol Seriously, you can't sit here and say the JT is better then Miller when he has yet to take a snap? But now you are saying he is going to play his best player? The best player, hands down, now and going into next season, is Miller and its probably isn't even going to be close.
Also, something to remember this season. And its unfortunately for JT. He has surrounded with a new Oline, new RB's. He isn't going into a very good situation as far as experienced supporting cast. Again, hope the kid does very well. But I am being cautious. But if you are going to use "best player", well...its not even close right now.
Injuries? Ya, play a part. But most coaches go by the you don't lose your starting position because of injury. Even last year, as well as Guiton did (against poor competition btw), Meyer never waivered on who is starting QB was, Miller. And that was with an experienced senior backup QB.

Found thiis bit of info:

"Of the 100 leading passers at the FBS level last season, only 12 were redshirt freshmen or true freshmen. Only four of them played for teams with winning records, and only Winston, who led Florida State to the national title, won more than eight games."

Oh, I agree with this 100%--it was pathetic...now, on to the JT Era (and I don't mean The Senator)

What? Where in the hell did I say that JT was better than Miller?? I didn't say he was the best player right now, I said let's wait and see what happens this season, and that Urban will play the best player (whomever that is) when the time comes. Unbelievable.

Both--if Barrett doesn't bomb, then Meyer will play him--thus by default deeming him the best player to lead the team....lol, this season hasn't even started and we're talking about next year--gotta' love us college football fans!!!

Hey, luv vball...but you are talking out of both sides of your mouth. You are saying, have said that Meyer will start JT next season. They are saying he is going to play the best player. So, you are saying that JT is better then Miller before even seeing him take a snap. Oh wait, he did in the spring game, took a safetey. ;) Seriously, the only way Miller doesnt' start next year, is if JT has a Winston/Manzel season. Which is doubtful because both of them, had a VERY strong supporting cast the year they started as redshirt frosh.

Anyway, as you said, let the season play out and worry about next year, next year.

I predict we lose 2-3. Barrett is serviceable, not stellar, and Miller starts the season in 2015 where we will be in the mix for the national title.

It's bold and my final answer!

And he was balls through the air against MSU.

Connor Cook will probably be OPOY. Guy was absolutely killing it at the end of last season and is the main reason MSU is a national title threat

Finish 11-2, getting beat by MSU and PSU, then winning our bowl game...JTB builds off of this and takes us to the NC...BOOM!

No way we lose 3 games. Not with the talent Meyer has assembled. Any serviceable QB would maybe lose 2, MSU, Big Ten Title/Bowl game maybe. I would be extremely disappointed if we don't have a much improved, dom defense this year. The Dline is best in country and I believe the LB will be very good a well. I am hopeful new Def. Coach will instill a good/very good secondary. A solid defense can keep OSU in game as new QB/offense continue to get better.
Just too much talent on this roster to lose 3 games, even without Miller. But as I said, that is what makes Miller one of best players..he is that difference between a shot at the title, and two losses. Thus, the reason he will be the starter again next season if he is healthy.

Michigan State is a fraud and is going to be exposed badly at Oregon. They are the only team on the schedule that is a likely top15 caliber team, and they will be well out of the national title picture by the time and undefeated Buckeye squad invades.

I don't see where people are getting 2-3 losses from with this schedule. Mich St. is the only game they could realistically lose, and even they aren't nearly what the media is hyping them to be.

Frankly I expect the Buckeyes to be undefeated and in the playoff. From there they will probably get thumped, but getting there is a successful season. If Urb can't pull that off then his seat needs to be made to feel a little warm by a fan base that is tired of mediocrity and not seriously contending for national titles.

Unfortunately a FR QB can and likely will stumble even against the poseurs The Bucks play this season. But a co-title ain't bad for a team losing a valid Heisman candidate (although he would not have won it). I hope Buckeye Nation gets behind this kid and quits talking about "next year"...fuck next year...play as tough and committed as you can this year and let the chips fall where they may,

How exactly will they earn a co-title?

lol, they can't...it's either beat MSU and play in the B1G title game as the champ of the East, or lose and hope their record is good enough to play in a major bowl.

NO WAY they lose 3 games? Christ last year they lost 2. And that was with a heisman contending QB.

"Hiccups" happen to a team that starts an experienced QB who isn't great. OSU has more talent than most opponents, but that doesn't mean they are going to beat them.

I think this year's team is good enough to win the B1G, with or without Braxton, but not good enough to win a national title, with or without Braxton.

They won't be as good on a week to week basis, but I don't think the big picture has changed much.

Does anyone really think if we played Clemson 10x that we would lose more than 1 game?

MSU was the better team last year but OSU should have only had 1 loss. I expect them to win 10 games this year even with a rookie QB. Have you seen the defensive line? It's basically an NFL line at the college level.

100% yes we would lose more than 1 out of 10 against Clemson.

They outplayed OSU in the B1G CG, but I don't think they necessarily had a better team. Also, I think if we played Clemson 10x, we split. The scheme that Withers ran in our secondary last year was atrocious, and that, IMO, was the singular reason we lost those two games.
