Around here, it seems like a lot of people are at least fairly educated on their favorite teams, but not everyone puts the effort in to do so. And due to things like message boards, social media and the like, it's easy to find yourself reading COMMENTS BY IDIOTS. You know, like in Yahoo Sports comments, Facebook, etc.

Do you respond to those people who are obviously casual fans who don't really seem to follow the team or just ignore them unless they get too obnoxious?

Usually, I just ignore them (and avoid posting regularly on FB team posts), but occasionally have to give in and respond when the stuff they say gets too stupid to pass up. Like on FB yesterday when the Pittsburgh Pirates account said they'd signed a couple guys to the 40-man and removed two, including Garrett Jones. Some woman responded wondering why they got rid of him (relegated to occasionally pinch-hitting down the stretch and in the playoffs) instead of releasing Pedro Alvarez (low average, but tied for NL lead in homers, had 100 RBIs and won a Silver Slugger).

That's the kind of thing that's hard to ignore, at least if you're the kind of fan who follows teams religiously and takes the time to learn who is on the roster and what they bring to the table.

Have a classic idiot comment from our hero JJ himself. Few years ago when he was doing some pregame analysis on the state football championships he commented how he thought ________ was going to make an impact for said team.

But that kid had been hurt since like week 3-4 and didnt play all season!

You hear alot of odd stuff from TV commentators especially during the championship games on ONN and not STO.

Every time I'm at a live sporting event recently it seems like I'm sitting next to these fans. I went to an Ohio State basketball game last year and the guy kept telling his girlfriend what a great player our point guard Evan turner was and how great he was on defense. He was calling aaron craft Evan turner the whole game. I'm pretty sure even his girlfriend knew he was wrong.

Yes.....had better luck this year but last year at a Reds game this dumb shit with his woman knew EVERYTHING and would not stfu.....then the scoreboard trivia came on and he could only come up with one answer and my wife turned around and told him 2 other answers. Lol that shut him up the rest of the game.

When the Cavs were blown out over the weekend, Austin Carr, who usually does some vague play by play on Twitter, disappeared during the game and finally admitted he just didn't know what to say. Someone said the team had no chemistry and they needed to start trading players.

One time at a reds game a guy behind us was telling his buddies that his son accepted a scholarship to Duquesne. But he was saying it Dook-n-ease. I was laughing thinking, seriously your kid accepts a scholarship and you can't even pernounce the name of the school? ??

Usually the stupid ones are also the ones that are unreasonable homers, so if anything I exploit that. I don't argue with them because there's no point, but sometimes it just fun to fuck with them (offer up one comment to fire them up for the amusement of others)

Usually it's pretty obvious what will get the retards going, so you just toss out the bait and watch what happens

I've only posted on their articles a few times so I'm surprised you would have seen them or even knew who I was (I think less than 7-8 total in the past year).

I was at a hockey game the other day at BG and the girl next to me asked if the score was 15-13 and how the other team scored 15. She didn't know the difference between shots on goal and goals. I laughed then when she didn't understand the power play and thought we didn't lose a guy on the ice but that goals were worth double and only the penalized player had to sit out. Hahaha she was yelling when there were only four guys on the ice, and to top it off kept telling this guy that players should just stand by the net the whole time, I guess she isn't a fan of offsides

Haha I would have been rolling on the floor. In a political science class this semester a girl during her presentation kept saying the p in coup. Funniest shit ever when people say words wrong like that

I think the older you get, the less and less you watch/listen to the pre and post game analysis of teams and games. There really is only so many ways to break down what a team needs to do to win and such.

Anymore I tune in at game time and not bother with the endless drivvle from the so called experts.
Even Marty gets on my nerves any more.
