We need to increase our user count. I was thinking of some ideas:

#1: Justin and some volunteers (belly, BRF, ccrunner, whoever) giving out fliers at state football playoff games. Or we could even pass fliers out at OSU game sat (if justin can get some things printed in time). Also, anybody in any university could post some fliers around (once we have a design)

#2. go on a FB offensive. Have everybody in the FB group share some sort of post saying that like the 50th and 100th new members will get xxx

#3. go back on the spamming offensive at other websites like when we first started.

#4-20. ???

There is so much untapped potential in this forum. No reason why we can't beat JJhuddle for the Ohio sports niche.

I know everyone hated the mod nazi's on JJ, but to really increase traffic and participation, the actual modding would have to really pick up. Being attacked the minute you have an opposing view from people like CoA, like_that, sleeper, and tiernan isn't something people are going to like.

But a lot of those guys don't even go into the HS sports threads. And I semi agree, but I think there are tons of people like me (and people who have joined but not been active til about a year or 2 ago) that learned to go with the flow. Do we really want posters who can't take a little ribbing anyways?

Big difference between a little ribbing and being told to STFU anytime you post an opposite opinion. I agree though, those guys don't really venture into the high school forums, so it might be alright.

Like ob said, they don't venture to HS forums. I agree that HS forums need to be pretty tightly moderated. Unfortunately they are so lightly trafficked that the need to moderate is pretty low.

I can easily do the HS soccer page. And honestly, that's why I came here from JJhuddle. Back in the Huddle days there were 20-40 active posters on the soccer page alone. Getting people to go to the playoffs (next year) or some big regular season games to pass out some fliers (which we could easily design and print for like what, 50$ total?) could really work.

I know Bexley had 10 posters alone. Worthington Christian had 5-8, Dublin, UA, Granville, Hilliard D all had 5 or so also. It was great. They all left JJhuddle and it seems they never came back.

Facebook may be the best and easiest options. You can target certain demographics, and it's pretty cheap to get a post boosted to around 6,000 people.

And we could ramp up the actually Ohio Chatter page and have people share posts that you do. As well as the Twitter page. I had a twitter page connected to my blog and after retweets I was getting 10 or so new visitors a day per RT.

I think at this point you're not getting anyone new, and really it's keeping what we have. Message boards aren't a dead forum, but social media has definitely cut off the avenues for growth, so they'll remain stagnant (membership-wise) at best.

The main focus is keeping who we have IMO. Unfortunately we screwed the pooch by handing the keys over to the trifecta of tard, CoA/l_t/S&L, and we will never get that back. So the question becomes how do we make the existing membership want to post more often, and what do we do to get the ones our bullies ran off back.

Participation seems to be on the climb. Quite a few people are posting in Serious Business, some that I haven't noticed in there for a long time. I'm sure justin has some numbers.

Participation definitely appears to be on the rise. If I get some time tomorrow I will run some numbers to see if perception = reality. I've been holding off on that "old member" email to see if things would start to pick up so it would look "busier" around here when old folks started showing up. I figured that would look less desperate than inviting a bunch of people back to a dead forum.

We should totally start a twitter and FB presence though. That's easy and free.

I agree. Are you willing to help out with running them? I can give you the twitter password and make you an admin on the facebook page. Same goes for anyone else that doesn't have access to either.

Yes, but I have exams coming up in december, so I will most likely not have much time to do it after thanksgiving until break starts (which I will then have a shit ton of time).

The idea for the twitter theme IMO, would be for you to post a thread on here that tells people to follow the twitter account, I will then throughout the day link popular threads and stuff and RT Ohio Sports and national stuff to hopefully grow our following slightly. I will also respond to lots of people and ask popular figures to give us RTs lol

FB I would like to wait until break to start growing. but you can post in the "Social Media" thread, to like the FB page and to share it's statuses and RT it if you want.
