Wow. I'm confused on how it could be a "vicious beating" and only constitute a misdemeanor assault, though. If it was truly vicious, it would be assault in almost all situations... Makes me wonder if they are reaching on the story and it was just a punch or something.

They interviewed him on sportscenter......he definitely had a black eye and supposedly a couple lumps on the side of his head. It sounded like he took maybe 2-3 shots before the attackers took off but it was far from a viscous beating especially from the way the QB told it. My guess is that whomever gets charged will receive an assault and battery which is a class 1 misdemeanor

I didn't read the story, but weren't they borderline on making the playoffs anyhow?
