Any good local shops for Pizza in the Akron/Barberton area?

My favorite of all time was Maries Pizza in Norton which is now closed are there any good pizza around this area?

For a reference of what I consider good pizza. Pizza hut leans towards good as well as East of Chicago though I have not any of their pizza in a long time.

Any recommendations from people in the know is appreciated.

I would say Luigi's in Akron or Angie's in Barberton, but if you consider Pizza Hut and East of Chicago to be anything more appealing than what accumulates on the bottoms of your shoes, I'd say that they'd be wasted on you.

I've been to Luigi's in Akron at least 5 times, and I just don't get the rave for it. I only go back because it's part of family outings, and I'm caught in the minority. To me, it's nothing special or different at all.

Not sure how far you're willing to travel but I prefer Gemini in Brimfield/Kent.

Angie's in Barberton is good. About a block north of Lake Anna.

I don't like "sloppy" pizza if you pick up a piece of pizza and it droops it is wrong. Is Angie's a sloppy pizza?

Is it like Papa johns Pizza? For me that is the worst Pizza chain in existence so if it anything like that it is not good pizza IMO.

I can't remember what town it's in but a buddy and I stopped at a place called Gobierno's I believe about 7 years ago and it was pretty good. It was a few miles from the Summit store.

No, and if you want "sloppy pizza", go to Michigan and try Papa Romano's. It's guaranteed to be incinerated around the edges and raw in the center.

I don't think that...find the health inspection certificate at a Pizza Hut and you'll see that the guys who inspect for a living think that.

Pizza Hut is the only place I've ever been that has a greasy crust. Understand that I'm half Italian and as such am quite familiar with grease where it doesn't normally accumulate for the average person. I need to wash my hair twice in the shower and scrub my face twice, so when I say Pizza Hut is excessively greasy where it has no business being greasy, consider that.

Papa John's is a good neutral pizza. Consider the following.
1) Not a greasy crust
2) Not a cornmeal dusting on the bottom (which is why I don't like Donato's or Massey's)
3) Ingredients don't taste like they just came out of a can (like, for example, Pizza Hut)

That said, the only thing special about Papa John's is being able to get a good quantity for a good price. The $.25 large pizza deal they had most of this year was great...eat one for dinner and one for lunch the next day.

Papa John's might not be greasy, or have a dusty bottom, but it totally tastes like shit.
