Mine would have to be years ago when learning to ski and being on the "bunny hill" with a large group of terrible beginners. What a pile of human flesh!
It was much more pleasant on the intermediate slope, not constantly being in someone's way.

I was taking lessons in Red Lodge MT and while on the bunny hill I skiied into a telephone pole wrapped in foam at .5 mph. As I was collecting my shit after throwing a fit a 6-8 year old kid zips by me on his way to the lift saying "You shouldn't come out if you're that bad."

Few things have embarrassed me more.

knock on wood I've not experienced too much on the ski slopes (although I started skiing at the age of 3... I once ran into a wooden BigBird they had on the bunny hill - on video tape, nice. And the first time in my ski boots Dad lifted me up as we went to get off the rope tow and my feet came right out of my boots and skis!).
However, my brother once bit it really hard right in front of me, blacked out, and got a concussion. I was pretty scared. And my cousin had a seizure and fell off the ski lift... not fun.

I have two that stick out:

1. Was skiing with some friends at MRM. One of my buddies and I spent the whole night (2 runs) in the terrain park. After a decent first shot through the park, we began our 2nd run. My night ended on jump number 2. I was a little bit off balance when I took off. I ended up pretty much laid out flat in the air, and came down on my back. At some point I apparently decided to try and break my fall with my right arm. Ended up breaking my wrist pretty badly (bone was displaced about 1" or so). My friend came up and asked me if I was alright. After informing and showing him that I had broke my wrist, I decided I was in good enough shape to ski down to the ski patrol. Not the most intelligent/fun thing I've ever done. Luckily, I didn't have any issues getting down there.

2. I was skiing with my brother and a friend at Breckinridge in Colorado when I was a junior or senior in high school. We were cruising pretty fast down a steep run, and were coming up to a spot where a flatter run crossed over. After waiting for traffic to clear, I went first, cruising out over the edge and catching some nice air. After I landed, I went to stop to watch the other two go. When I went to stop on my heel edge, I made the rookie mistake of dropping my toes, and hooked my toe edge, smashing my face into the ground. Next thing I remember my brother was shaking me awake, and I pushed myself up off the snow. I looked down and noticed some blood on the snow, and remember thinking "Man, I fell in somebody else's blood." Then a drop of blood fell from my face and I realized (with some amount of relief) the blood was my own. We rode down to the lodge so I could clean my face up. My vision was so blurry after this that I couldn't read the score in the corner of a football game that was on TV in the lodge. That was when I decided I should probably take the rest of that day off (it was the 1st of a 5 day trip).

Many years ago, my buddy and I got brave and tried going down the "black diamond" at Mad River Mountain.
Granted, I know it's not much of a hill, but for a novice skier at midnight madness (the mountain was pure ice) it was exciting, half way down.

Couple areas to get some air time, which was not my intention. I never had a chance. Failed on the landing going over the first jump. Still moving fast, sliding back first towards one of the ski lift poles. The ski lift was wrapped in that orange "snow fence" stuff, which once my skis hit it, it spun me around clock wise and I continued sliding down the hill about another 10-15 meters.

About the time I came to a stop I looked up to see my friend (who made it over the first jump) totally lose it on the second and do something similar to a cartwheel.

Immediately after reattaching our ski's, we both went directly to the bar.

I thought I was a pretty decent skier. My wife had me take our big ass camera to take some pics of the kids and I had it strapped around my neck, the camera resting on my gut. Lo and behold, I got out of control and slammed down, hearing the camera crunch against my ribs..................man, that hurt. I hurt my knee, too.

Then, I got a simple tip that I pass along to all of you:
