Calling it now, Bay will be a bust in NY.
Sorry BAB, I know your a die hard Mets fan, but Bay doesn't fit that Ballpark very well.

I like Bay, but agreed, not a good ballpark for him.

While CitiField is huge, the ball actually carries really well there in the summer. The numbers are a bit scewed when Delgado, Beltran, Reyes, etc were out most of the season. Visting teams had no problems going yard!
That being said ... I like the signing. Do I love it? No, I would prefer Matt Holliday. But the Mets needed a power bat in left field, and suddenly have a pretty solid offensive outfield in Beltran, Bay and Francouer (who was fantastic as a Met and became an instant fan favorite ... but can he keep it up).
The Mets need an arm bad. While Ben Sheets is brittle, I think he is worth the risk of an incentive-heavy contract.

I agree with Ben Sheets.
I was hoping the Yankees would make an incentive-laden deal to him, but not too upset with Vasquez coming in, I think they gave up on him way too quickly.

Needs some other people around him to be healthy in that lineup to thrive in NY....

this is what I was thinking... I would have stopped somewhere around $10.5
