Veteran day

For some of you Veteran Day is a meaningless holiday for others who have taken the time to know friends and family who have served you understand the importance and value of this day.

Please list those who you know have answered the Call of Duty.

To those guys in my platoon /squad .. I’m honored to know
Special honor to Clyde Root and Johnny Wiesbrod
To my mom who served as a WAC WWII
My father in law and Flying Tiger Pilot WWII
My dad US Army Sergeant WWII
My neighbor Vietnam Vet
My wife best friend two boys Iraq Vets

I'll be thinking of my grandpa who passed last year and served in the Navy in WWII and my brother in-law and many friends that are in or have served. But mostly I won't be thinking about anything because I'm getting another shoulder surgery on Monday so I'll be unconscious or sedated with painkillers.

Fun RDI fact: Summer after i graduated high school I set a meeting with a Marine recruiter. I waited an hour and he never showed up so I took it as a sign to not enlist.

Aultman North actually. Just be in for the surgery then get to go home. Not a big deal procedure really. Except for the nerve blocker because some dude shoving a giant fucking needle in your neck is kinda scary.

I love that our government employees honor our veterans hard work and sacrifice by giving themselves a day off. I'll be working, and thinking more about the psyche of the future veterans who are currently overseas and being asked to do ridiculous things on a daily basis for no good reason other than to help the stock prices of a few corporations.

Doing very well since they changed his medicines around. He has been doing everything like normal and remembering things that he normally was forgetting. Over all I am happy with how he is doing as of right now.

Thanks for asking Belly. How have you and your family been?

While I don't necessarily disagree with you, you suck as a poster, and probably as a person.

Big Hoyaah to my little brother who served 4 tours in 6 years as a Navy SEAL. I know one was in Iraq, but the other three were pretty much off the radar.
Also a big shoutout to quite a few of my buddies in our unit who mostly were in Iraq, and a few just came home from Afghanistan.

I don't have anyone in my family who is a veteran, but I do appreciate their service. If you're not on the front lines, you're still just a phone call away.

My Grandpa - Army WWII
My Dad - USAF 60-64
My Wife - USMC 87-91
Me - USAF 86-90

( I have several relatives who served or are currently serving. Too many to mention)

Veterans Day is special to me since that was the day I/We chose to get married. That was in 2002...Still going good.

I have always had a question that maybe you smarter OCers can answer.

Those who are in the military but never have been on a deployment yet......should veterans day hold any special "courtesies" to them as well as those who have served? O
