So last night I was putting dishes away and I dropped a glass and when I snapped down to catch it before it broke I slammed the top of my head off of the counter top. It took me to my knees and my nose started bleeding. Its now 10 hours later and my head is still throbbing and it feels like light and sounds are knives going into my head. Should I go get looked at? Is this a concussion? My main concern is the nose bleed since I hit myself 3 inches above my nose on the top of my head.

If you even have to ask whether you should get this looked at then you may have hit your head harder than you thought.

If he aren't throwing up and feel really out of it, I would say don't worry about it. Even if you do have a minor concussion, which you might, the only thing a doctor will do is diagnose it and tell you to take it easy.

Not much you can do for a concussion from a medical standpoint.

And if you didn't get knocked out cold and don't have any memory loss you are probably fine.

Just tell you boss you got hit with Hines Ward's 2 Super Bowl rings......and then by his Super Bowl MVP trophy.

But don't worry if you go into shock he'll have a nice yellow blazer jacket in about 8 years to keep you warm.

The acute symptons of sensitivity to light and noise indeed indicate a mild concussion. If you do not suffer from confusion, nausea or constant ringing in the ears, you will probably be fine. Have you lost your sense of taste?

Drink lots of water and avoid sleep for at least 12 hours. If you do not feel better by then, have a friend drive you to the ER.

Forget the sense of taste question. Just noticed your post count.

I went to a quick care and they said minor concussion. prescribed rest (meaning off my feet) for at least a day and if the headache doesnt go away come back tomorrow for a scan.

Third concussion for me in my life. Got 1 at age 12 (basketball), 1 at age 15 (football) and 1 at 24 (dishes).

Like I said above. You wasted your time going to the doctor.

But I guess you probably feel better about it now.

BTW, do we even have any doctors on Freehuddle?

If not for the nose bleed I wouldn't have went to the Dr. I never bled during the other 2 concussions. My fear was like a hemmorage or something like that. Also I didn't get sick to my stomach for this one, i puked big time for the 1st 2.

Hines Ward would've lied to that doctor and went right back to doing dishes.
