Haven't had a smartphone app thread in awhile.
Anyone find any gems out there recently?
I've been finding myself using Waze quite a bit. Super helpful on highways.

I recently discovered two solid apps for transportation in NYC.
Embark NYC - subway map and routing app. There are a few out there, but this one is by far the best. I believe they have a version for several cities w/ mass transit systems
Hailo - you can hail yellow cabs from pretty much anywhere. Very solid for when I lived in my previous apartment, yellow cabs were hard to come by.
Uber is for black cabs, but I don't fucks with those.

Not sure how NYC is, but Uber does regular yellow cabs now. At least in DC it does. I figured Uber and Hailo wouldn't succeed in NYC since it is pretty damn easy to hail a cab, but makes sense in queens.Automatik;1510111 wrote:I recently discovered two solid apps for transportation in NYC.

Uber does regular cabs in Chicago too now. Also UberX, which is ride sharing (like Lyft). I like it because you don't have to deal with bullshit cabbies telling you they won't take a credit card after you get to your destination.like_that;1510116 wrote:Not sure how NYC is, but Uber does regular yellow cabs now. +1, I fucking hate DC cabs. I have gotten into countless arguments with them. DC law finally forced these fuckers to get a credit card machine in their cars too.gorocks99;1510155 wrote:Uber does regular cabs in Chicago too now. Also UberX, which is ride sharing (like Lyft). We also have uberx. I used it once. Pretty cheap, not bad. It will pretty much kill Lyft's business lol.

Just get out and dont pay. Chicago Cabs, by law, have to take CC if you offer it. They dont like, cause the tips dont make it there way till the end of the month. But they have to take it.gorocks99;1510155 wrote:Uber does regular cabs in Chicago too now. Also UberX, which is ride sharing (like Lyft). Ive said I have CC and they say no, cash only. I basically get out and say sorry dont have any, but thanks for the free ride. They always say "ok ok CC is fine". So annoying.
