No thread. I'm starting it. Latos on the hill. Hopefully the Reds win (down 1-0 as I post this) and I start every game thread until the World Series is over.

Oh yeah, we're facing Daisuke Matsuzaka who I saw 4 times in Columbus this year. Guy is a complete bum who I'm shocked ever got another MLB chance. Of course, today he probably throws a perfect game.

According to Yahoo Gamechannel, Billy Hamilton just got thrown out stealing which is, I think, the first time that happened at this level. Whoever J. Centeno is, he should get a bonus for pulling that off.

Lol keep up the good work guys. Hopefully we get swept by the pirates and give them first so we get to top the season off by losing to the fucking cardinals of all teams in a one game playoff.

And after 1st base opens up on the pitch that gets away and puts two runners in scoring position, he still pitches to Votto and successfully retires him to end the threat.mhs95_06;1507211 wrote:Feliciano pitched around Choo to get to Votto!

Meh they weren't gonna catch the cardinals regardless. And a one game playoff vs Pittsburgh is a toss up whether it's in cinci or Pittsburgh.
We all knew we'd have to win a one game playoff basically since July.

If the Pirates win today the Reds must sweep them to host the wild card. If the Pirates lose the first team to 2 wins gets to host the wild card.
I don't like the way things are going, I'd much rather host the wild card game than not.

Cubs beat Pirates.
Cards beat Brewers.
Brewers beat Braves.
Reds eliminated from the Central. Pirates can, at-best, tie for the Central.
The Cards now hold the #1 seed. The Braves hold the #2 seed. If the Dodgers lose, they automatically clinch the #3 seed.
This thing is playing out as bad as it can. The last thing I want is to face St. Louis in the first round, if somehow we beat Pittsburgh in the WC game.
The series this weekend, whoever wins it, gets homefield in the wild card game.

I'm not even sure how we lost with Hamilton in the lineup. Most likely witchcraft, but I demand an investigation.

^This fucking guy. Sorry that you have to cry now becuase of how wrong you were. "Hamilton can't hit in the bigs right now" 7 hits in 18 ABs, and has scored on average almost every game he's been in.se-alum;1507434 wrote:I'm not even sure how we lost with Hamilton in the lineup. Ludwick rips fans for atmosphere; lack of support.
Of course, he does have a .658 OPS thus far on the year.

Record crowds at GABP.
PRetty good crowds I thought for a mid week series vs the lowly mets.
but they do have a point.......Cincy is way behind thet true fans of teams like St Louis and such.

Nobody is St. Louis. I hate to admit it, but their fan loyalty and support for the Cardinals is almost unmatched in professional sports (outside of the NFL). In today's economic times and with the wide variety of entertainment options, it's simply not what it used to be.thavoice;1507606 wrote:Record crowds at GABP.

Who ever thought in our lifetimes we would see the Chicago Cubs not drawing at Wrigley Field? Then you have certain markets like New York, Atlanta, Phoenix and Houston, who despite being 4 of the 6 biggest metro areas in the US, draw almost exclusively based on results of the team.
The Reds got that reputation in the 50's and it lasted even into the early 90's. Long enough for the expectation to be that of a "great baseball town", but not significant enough to sustain through almost 2 decades of terrible ownership and terrible teams.

Precisely, I've noticed with the Pirates, it takes until June or so for crowds to start really showing up for home games, just based on the 2 decades of terrible teams they had. People don't want to commit time and energy to a loser mired in losing when they're not convinced ownership is doing whatever they can to correct the problem. When you're not a large market who can buy whomever they want (ie: Cincy, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, etc.), you have to be patient at the MLB level sometimes, while being aggressive in stockpiling young talent through drafts and trades, but fans and their $$$ aren't always understanding of that, which can get frustrating.Azubuike24;1507611 wrote:Nobody is St. Louis. A mindset that led to the David Littlefield Debacle Era, when he went for 5 million quick-fix solutions while ignoring the development of young talent and keeping the team a loser and further alienating fans...which is another story, but yeah...

Ludwick sucks. He should probably worry about that instead of the fans.
